Title: The All-Time Mania Card
Description: An endeavor...
jamiegeist - March 20, 2006 10:30 PM (GMT)
Not sure why I feel like doing this, but I'm going to give it a try. Its an old Scott Keith idea that I noticed some guy is doing on wwe.com right now (and crediting Keith at that!) so I thought I'd give it a shot here.
The situation is this: Make a card featuring one match from every Mania. Titles may only be defended once, and no one may appear more than once. In the interest of staying hip with the times, the following titles will be defended: World, WWE, IC, US, Cruiserweight, European (yay!), Hardcore, Women's and only one set of Tag Titles. I don't even know the different names they give those things.
Anyway, I'm doing this stream of consiousness style -- so if I fuck up, forgive me. Kind of like the spelling of that word back there. The idea here is to make the best card while following the rule. SO here goes.
Wrestlemania 1: Bodyslam Challenge: Andre the Giant v Big John Studd
Wrestlemania 2: Women's Title: Fabulous Moolah v Velvet McIntyre
Wrestlemania 3: Hillbilly Jim, Little Beaver & The Haiti Kid v King Kong Bundy, Lord Littlebrook & Little Tokyo
Wrestlemania 4: The Islanders & Bobby Heenan v The British Bulldogs & Koko B. Ware
Wrestlemania 5: Brainbusters v Strike Force
Wrestlemania 6: Million Dollar Title: Ted Dibiase v Jake Roberts
Wrestlemania 7: Retirment Match: Randy Savage v Ultimate Warrior
Wrestlemania 8: 8 Man War: Hacksaw Jim Duggan, Sgt. Slaughter, Virgil & Big Boss Man v The Mountie, Repo Man & Nasty Boys
Wrestlemania 9: Lex Luger v Mr. Perfect
Wrestlemania 10: IC Title Ladder Match: Razor Ramon v Shawn Michaels
Wrestlemania 11: Bam Bam Bigelow v Lawrence Taylor
Wrestlemania 12: Hollywood Backlot Brawl: Roddy Piper v Goldust
Wrestlemania 13: Submission match: Bret Hart v Steve Austin
Wrestlemania 14: Cruiserweight Title: Taka Michinoku v Aguila
Wrestlemania 15: Hardcore Title: Billy Gunn v Hardcore Holly v Al Snow
Wrestlemania 16: Tag Team Title Ladder Match: Edge & Christian v Dudleys v Hardy Boys
Wrestlemania 17: European Title Match: Eddie Guerrero v Test
Wrestlemania 18: The Rock v Hulk Hogan
Wrestlemania 19: WWE Title Match: Kurt Angle v Brock Lesnar
Wrestlemania 20: US Title Match: John Cena v Big Show
Wrestlemania 21: World Title Match: Triple H v Batista
Well, I think I've done it. I'm not proud, but I couldn't sqeeze Taker or Kane in. I'm shocked a managed to get every title ever defended in, with the exception of the Smackdown Tag Titles. But I made up for that with the Million Dollar Belt. This was actually really fun, removing people, throwing people in, and looking for a place to do it.
Best Match: Bret Hart v Steve Austin from 13. But some good contenders in there.
Worst Match: Hillbilly Jim and the midgets. I just had to.

I always like doing this, especially since my card fluctuates every year.
WM 1: Tito Santana vs. The Executioner - I want Tito on here somewhere, and since I won't be considering him from any other WM, why not open the list with the opening match of the 1st WM?
WM 2: Ricky Steamboat vs. Hercules - Probably the best match you could get out of Hercules.
WM III: Koko B. Ware vs. Butch Reed - The only black non-midget wrestlers against each other. SMELL THE RACISM!
WM IV: Ted Dibiase vs. Jim Duggan - Randomly selected, since WM IV had shit for options.
WM V: Jake Roberts vs. Andre The Giant - The match sucked balls, but both deserve a spot on this list.
WM VI: Brutus Beefcake vs. Mr. Perfect - Filler, pretty much.
WM VII: The Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage - Easily one of the all-time classic WM matches, especially considering no titles were on the line.
WM VIII: Tatanka vs. Rick Martel - Major Filler.
WM IX: The Steiner Brothers vs. The Head Shrinkers - Surprisingly good match. I say that because the Head Shrinkers suck.
WM X: IC Title: Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels - I'm not a huge fan of it, but it is a historical match.
WM XI: Tag Titles: The Smoking Gunns vs. Owen Hart & Yokozuna - I wanted the Tag Titles used somewhere, but my only other choices were already void.
WM 12: Roddy Piper vs. Goldust - It's the only match left! Bret is used, Warrior is used, Jake is used, Austin is used, Undertaker is used.
WM 13: Steve Austin vs. Bret Hart - See WM VII, except even better, and possible my favorite match ever.
WM XIV: The Undertaker vs. Kane - I had to get Kane on here somewhere, God dammit.
WM XV: European Title: Shane McMahon vs. X-Pac
WM 2000: Hardcore Battle Royale (TAKA, Funaki, Bradshaw, Faarooq, MSP, Tazz, Hardcore & Crash Holly, Head Bangers, Viscera).
WM X-Seven: Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit - Straight up great wrestling.
WM X-8: The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan - I needed Hogan somewhere, but he's been involved in the World Title match in almost every year I wanted him, so huzzah.
WM XIX: World Title: Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle - Pretty good match, needed the World Title somewhere, and it was one of the few enjoyable matches left that were possible choices.
WM XX: Christian vs. Chris Jericho
WM 21: Womens Title: Trish Stratus vs. Christy Hemme - My only other options weres Akeboner/Big Show and... uh... well, not much.

3: Billy Jack Haynes vs. Herc-u-les! Herc-u-les!
4: One Man Gang vs. Bam Bam Bigelow
5: Jake Roberts vs. Andre
6: Hacksaw Duggan vs. Dino Bravo
7: Tenryu & Kitao vs. Demolition
8: Tag titles: Natural Disaters vs. Money Inc
9: Doink vs. Crush
10: World Title: Yokozuna vs. Lex Luger
11: Undertaker vs. King Kong Bundy
12:Steve Austin vs. Savio Vega
13: IC Title: Rocky Maivia vs. the Sultan
14: Marc Mero & Sable vs. Goldust & Luna
15: Euro title: Shane McMahon vs. X-pac
16: T & A vs. Al Snow & Steve Blackman
17: Tazz & Acolltyes vs. RTC
18: Hardcore title: Maven vs. Goldust
19: Cruiserweight: Matt Hardy vs. Rey Mysterio
20: US title: John Cena vs. Big Show
21: WWE Title: Triple H vs. Batista

You used Goldust twice. For XIV and X-8. :D [/jerk]

What an interesting pick for a wrestler to overuse.
Scrooge McSuck - March 24, 2006 11:10 PM (GMT)
Well he did say he was going for a "worst" matches list. I thought Mero/Sable vs. Goldust/Luna was good for who was involved, but different strokes for different folks.
eStragand - March 24, 2006 11:31 PM (GMT)
Oh....well, technically, they were different versions of Goldust. Y'see, Goldust had been killed off and rejuventated at least one time, in between. Plus he had different make-up schemes for each match :P
I suppose I could swap out the Tag Team battle royal for XIV... but I don't know everybody who was in that match.
Due to restraints, some of these weren't exactly "worst". For instance, I'm sure Rey vs. Hardy wasn't terrible.
Scrooge McSuck - March 25, 2006 09:31 AM (GMT)
It was a 4:00 CW Match on a 4 hour WM with only 8 other matches. That kinda qualifies. :D
And dammit, don't remind me of WM XIX. I may 'ave to rant about how the Raw Tag Titles were bumped to Heat. IN FAVOR OF THE MILLER LIGHT CATFIGHT GIRLS.
