Title: Shatner In Enterprise After All?

UPN has reportedly commissioned advertisements touting William Shatner's (James T. Kirk) return to Star Trek.
CBS Television City Research Center, located in Las Vegas's MGM grand hotel, is showing a commercial for Enterprise's fourth season announcing a guest appearance by Shatner, according to a post by 'Lt. Barclay' on the TrekWeb message boards.
Barclay said in his report that the center previewed an episode of CBS's new comedy series, Centre of the Universe, for visitors. "During the show, a few UPN commercials were shown, including one for Enterprise," he said in his report. The Enterprise ad reportedly contained scenes from season three, followed by a Star Trek logo and a voice over announcing that Shatner would be appearing in two episodes this season.
Rumours about Shatner making the trek to Enterprise have circulated since the series premiere in fall 2001, but have picked up steam in recent months. Back in May, executive producer Rick Berman said the writers were looking for a way to bring Shatner on board Enterprise. In June, it was reported the actor approached Berman with a "great story idea" for a guest stint (story). The only stumbling block at that time was that Shatner is signed as a regular on ABC's new drama series, Boston Legal, and would require time off to appear on Enterprise.
The CBS Television City Research Center is a joint initiative between Viacom, the parent company of CBS and UPN, and ACNielsen, which provides television ratings data. The complex includes screening rooms fitted with touch screens so visitors can give instant feedback on the programs as they are watching them. |

I think they jumped the gun on that one to be honest Ken. It's still contingent upon Shatner lowering his asking price, not to mention him being allowed time off from Boston Legal.
I'd love to see him back in Trek, but I'm not honestly holding my breath :(

Hey, guys :D
I remember having a discussion about this on the beeb boards a few months ago and the discussion turning into a debate about how to do it. Then turning into a troll bashing session.
So how should they do it? I suggest the Guardian of forever. With Kirk asking to go back to the original enterprise, but not specifying which "original" enterprise he meant.

IMO, under no circumstances should he play Kirk (J.T). I'd have preferred him to play an ancestor, but they seem to have already gone down that route with Brent Spiner

I wouldn't mind it being JT Kirk. As long as it is handled well (i.e. not by the sideshow double act.)
But the term "handled well" is open for debate (as are all things trek, really), what I mean is, credibly and in a reasonable way.
The touted guardian storyline would work for me, as Kirk is the only one the Guardian has spoken to and reacted to, in millenia.
Or even the route of using the Nexus, it does apparently transcend time and therefore it is conceivable to meet up in there, but that has been done already (since when has that been a drawback for B&B??)

I think it's quite clear at this point that neither Berman or Braga will leave the franchise completely until it's dead. It's this thought alone that truly makes me indifferent to Enterprise ending after season 4. We can only hope that if it does then Berman and Braga are finally shown the door before any attempt's made to revive it. Trek used to be great, but that pair of idiots have led Trek down the path to ruination for far too long now. It desperately needs a break, if only in order to cast off the deadwood.
Re Kirk, I can't see this being anything other than a gimmick, looks for a Sweeps special featuring Kirk in some convoluted plot
