Title: What Was The Last Film You Saw?
Laura - August 9, 2004 09:22 PM (GMT)
The title says it all really, what was the last film you saw?
Jae - August 9, 2004 09:27 PM (GMT)
Where the Heart Is. I was in a chick flick mood.
Crichton Kicks - August 9, 2004 09:29 PM (GMT)
The Shawshank Redemption. One of the greatest movies there is.
Laura - August 9, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
Sliding Doors. I was also in a chick-flick mood.

The first hour of Romeo is Bleeding, thanks to the weather, my sky box has gone off :(
Last night we watched Return of the King, so I guess that :)

The Return of the King - how refreshing to have the concluding chapter of a trilogy not disappoint :)
Persephone - August 9, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
I agree totally, let's never mention the Matrix trilogy again ;)
Crichton Kicks - August 9, 2004 10:43 PM (GMT)
Looking back, the Matrix trilogy just follows a natural trend it would seem;
The Godfather
The Original Star Wars trilogy
Back to the Future
Jaws (I know there was 4 but still, the last 2 were rubbish !!)
Lord of the Rings, is probably the only trilogy that got better with each movie.
Indiana Jones started well and ended well but was let down by a pish-poor middle story
Persephone - August 9, 2004 10:47 PM (GMT)
I'd agree that LOTR is the most consistant trilogy, but I prefer the second Godfather film, which is a bit of an oddment, cos generally the middle film, is always the weakest.

Have to agree with that, although there's often an argument thrown forward in such comparisons that both Empire Strikes Back and Terminator 2 were better than the originals. I'd disagree in both examples to be honest. The Godfather 2 is the only one I can think of, although having said that, I lie, Aliens was vastly superior to both the original and subsequent sequals ;)
Persephone - August 9, 2004 10:56 PM (GMT)
I forgot about Aliens, although I only really hated Alien 3 out of the bunch, not that struck on Resurrection either, but I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more, second time round :)
I must admit, I adore the Terminator films  , (even the obnoxious kid.)
Crichton Kicks - August 9, 2004 11:05 PM (GMT)
I loved Aliens, and enjoyed Alien but it wasn't quite as good. Of the further two, neither particularly did much for me, but I really can't stand Alien3, it's right down there with Star Trek 5
Regarding Terminator, I love the first one, it's a classic, and thoroughly enjoyed T3, but T2 bored me for large parts in the middle, it was just too long.
Going back to the stronger second movie thing, you might argue Batman Returns is better than the original Batman as well, although I'd find that too close to call myself.
Right, that's me, bedtime. See you folks tomorrow :)

The Butterfly effect...went to see it at the pics and just had to watch it again
Highly recommend it :D

I always thought I was unusual in that I dont think THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is the best of the STAR WARS films.
I actually disagree with you about T2 though - I thought it was better than the origianal, the same goes for SPIDERMAN 2 and ALIENS.
Also STAR TREK II was vastly superior to the first
one!!
It could also be argued that SUPERMAN 2 was the best of the bunch!!
Oh and to answer the question SPIDERMAN 2 was the last film I saw although hopefully I am seeing the second SHREK movie tonight.

OI leave ST5 alone!!!
I think the original BATMAN is the best of the BATMAN movies but it is a close run thing with the second one. Michelle Pfiffer was gorgeous as the CATWOMAN, shame they didnt use her for the new movie which I am reliably informed is rubbish!!!

The Shawshank Redemption. I love that film :)

I've taped The Shawshank Redemption as I've never yet seen it. This weekend maybe.
Just watched Starsky & Hutch. Quite enjoyed it, too. Nice little twist at the end. :D

I actually preferred Alien because that was edge of the seat stuff. The John Hurt scene is classic. I enjoyed Aliens but it was really an alien kick-ass movie, albeit a superior one. Didn't she get dubbed Rambolina at the time
The original Terminator is again a sci fi classic. T2 was good but it was really just Cameron playing with his toys. T3 I thought was the start of milking the franchise. We've had metallic man, now the Terminator is a female. What next? A killer kitten?
I actually think that Batman Returns is the better film (by a gnat's) because it has the stronger cast. Or maybe it's Michelle Pfeiffer in that catsuit   Told you I was shallow
willowroolz - August 10, 2004 12:15 PM (GMT)
I think Alien and Aliens both work brilliantly because they tell what is basically the same story in completely different ways - one goes for the haunted house approach whilst the other is a war movie. I love 'em both, but Aliens has been my favourite movie since I saw it the day it opened right up to a couple of weeks back when I saw it for the 80-somethingth time. Only LA Confidential and LOTR have come close to displacing it :)

Just saw 13 going on 30 on Friday. A really funny film, and Jennifer Garner is great, esp when it comes to facial expressions!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Margot C - August 10, 2004 02:53 PM (GMT)
I'm going to see that tomorrow. Sometimes I think it looks funny, then sometimes I see the trailer and cringe. I guess it just depends what mood I'm in :)
Margot

I wacthed 13 going on 30 last night which I'd downloaded. I couldn;t see myself going to see it at the cinema, but I kinda wanted to see what it was like. At first I thought it was a bit cringy, but I thought JG was good on the whole. The film in general was just a bit of harmless fluff though. :)

The last film i saw was Harry Potter 3 n it was brill
Margot C - August 11, 2004 08:54 PM (GMT)
13 Going On 30, which I loved. It's light and funny and feel-good (even if it was a bit 'pink'. I don't think I could live with myself if I owned that many pink clothes).
Margot
Nick - August 11, 2004 08:57 PM (GMT)
Watched Shrek 2 on Monday, brill
LoobiLou - August 11, 2004 08:59 PM (GMT)
Did you think it was better than the first? Everyone i know who has seen it, raved on about it being so much better and funnier...but i watched it and thought it was terrible compared to the original
Anna - August 12, 2004 09:25 AM (GMT)
Spiderman 2. Trying to get to go to see I, Robot and The Bourne Supremacy. Missed Harry Potter :(
Margot C - August 12, 2004 11:23 AM (GMT)
Loobi, I agree. I thought the first one was much better. But I did still enjoy the 2nd :)

JFK, on the beeb last night. There’s far too many inaccuracies for it to be taken seriously.
Margot C - August 12, 2004 11:39 AM (GMT)
I started watching that, but gave up an hour in cause I was finding it kind of difficult to follow.

With the amount of incorrect facts you could watch it from start to finish and not follow it
Number Six - August 12, 2004 11:55 AM (GMT)
I saw this when it first came out and soon realised that Stone was just selling us his own conspiracy theory dressed as fact. I'm old enough to remember the day of JFK's assassination and all the subsequent events. trouble is that for people who weren't around then are likely to start believing this is all true. :(

Did you see the documentary that was on BBC2 a while ago? They advertised it weeks in advance. It was on all the facts surrounding the incident; they also took the film apart completely making a mockery out of it. It was very good.

I went to see it at the cinema, not my choice mind, but as James pointed out somewhere on the board, much prefer the Red Dwarf version of events ;)

No, I didn't realise that it was on. Damn, I wish I had caught that.
jamiearmour - August 12, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
The last movie I saw was Scary Movie 3. I only bought the dvd to see the alternate ending (which IMO was funnier than the one they went with)
Psycho Jack - August 12, 2004 07:56 PM (GMT)
Kandahar, last night on BBC2
A very touching film.
