Showtime announces release date of final 8 episodes of the first story arc!

Showtime has finally announced it's upcoming airdate for the heavily anticipated final 8 installments of the massive 35-hour Jeremiah saga by J. Michael Straczynski. Beginning September 3rd at 8pm as a part of Showtime's Sci-Friday lineup, Jeremiah fans will receive not one, but TWO new, hour-long episodes every Friday night for the month of September. Critically acclaimed abroad as some of the best episodes of the series, it is also a great jumping on place for new viewers. The characters are in for quite the roller coaster ride as they confront the armies of Daniel, are betrayed by one of their own, and shown a whole new side to the already mysterious Mr. Smith.

But are these eight episodes the end of Jeremiah? Far from it. Platinum Studios along with Executive Producers Scott Mitchell Rosenberg and Ervin Rustemagic, the people who originally brought the world of Jeremiah to TV from the award winning SAF Comics Graphic Novel series by Hermann Huppen are planning to continue the world of Jeremiah in many different mediums.

First, they are developing a full-length feature film prequel set around the time of the Big Death. Ever wonder what it was like in the beginning of the new world, a world run by children? Well, now you get a chance to find out!

Secondly, Jeremiah, Kurdy, Mr. Smith, and all your favorite characters continue their television adventures right where the series leaves off in Jeremiah- The Last Empire by writer Andrew Foley. The Last Empire will be published serially online at the Jeremiah Portal and most other Jeremiah oriented sites, complete with lots of great background not available in the series and then later in a collected print edition. This will be in English only, as we don't want to infringe on the great comics already being published in so many other languages by Jeremiah's creator Hermann Huppen.

Ever wanted to step into the world of Jeremiah yourself? When now you can in Platinum's upcoming Jeremiah Role-Playing Game, published by Morrigan Press and written by Scott Agnew.

Platinum is also hard at work on what will be the next new televised arc of the series. More to come on that soon.
