Title: Enterprise - Shorter Still ??

Enterprise's fourth season has only recently begun filming, but actor Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed) is already expecting it to be the show's last.

"We're gonna be doing 22 episodes, which will give them 98 episodes, which I figure they figure is enough to syndicate," Keating told the British SFX Magazine. "Which kinda leads you onto going... 'Well, y'know..." (Keating clicks his fingers) "That'll be that.' And I'm banking, monetarily, that that's what's gonna happen."

Although Keating was pessimistic about the show's future, he was happy there even is one, and told the magazine he was "relieved" Enterprise got renewed for a fourth season. As for that fourth season, Keating is happy it will be in the hands of new showrunner Manny Coto.

"I remember ringing him up about a couple of scenes I had in his first episode," Keating said, referring to last year's "Similitude." "The other writers are much more open to my rather emphatic suggestions about changing my words or the tone of the scene, but I remember Manny not being so open and actually having a bloody good argument why it should stay the same. I realised that this guy was not a walkover and he really thought about what he'd written. I remember putting the phone down and going 'hmph... okay.'"

Judging from that then they must have chopped the season again from the already cut 24 to 22. Not looking good :(

You know, I'm sure they've been advertising this season as 22 episodes for a while now- I believe Bakula revealed it in an interviewa while back now :)

It's the first time I've noticed it, but it wouldn't surprise me. Disappointing though :(

I thought that s3 was a lot better for having a shorter season than previously. It seemed like the episodes were a lot better with very few filler episodes than normal. Keeping in with the other networks as well as a lot of them dont have as long run as 24 episodes a season (Except 24 ofcorse ;) )
Hopefully this will mean that s4 will be as good, if not better than s3. IMHO TNG, DS9 and Voyager got better as the seasons went on, especially TNG and DS9 which really blossmed in their 3rd and 4th seasons.

Can't argue with that Noah. TNG picked up with it's third season, DS9 arguably took until the fourth season to hit it's stride.

Call me pessimistic, but I still don't see the show going to a fifth year, irrespective of how it fares this season. Someone at UPN really seems to have it in for the show
