Title: Star Trek Ii The Wrath Of Khan

ken1701e - August 1, 2004 11:13 PM (GMT)
This was on the sci-fi channel tonight and once again showed me that it is without a shadow of a doubt the best 2 hours + of any STARTREK ever. It is STARTREK in its most perfect form, classic moments, one liners, action sequences, perforances, direction and story.

Never bettered and never likely to be. If it wasnt for work in the morning I would watch it again at 2am when it is on again!!!!

WOK is my favorite of the ST movies by far. But it did some damage to me recently when I twas trying to make an impression on a young lady. She had been renting and enjoying the ST movies--but WOK was perhaps her least favorite and Richardo Montalban's performance was too stagey for her. That (and other things) seems to have formed a barrier between us.

Blimey. Someone who doesn't like TWOK

Just as well you found out in time, eh TV

I've lost count of how many times I've seen TWOK. I remember queuing outside the cinema on the day it opened, in the rain, and having to wait for ages cos the film hadn't actually been delivered to the cinema on time

It was the first video I ever bought - and on that version there were edits made to the close ups of the worm going into and coming out of the ears

They took their time, but I'm glad they finally released the extended version on dvd

The version on the DVD is great, and along with ST:TMP the best (so far) of the movies to be relased. Its a shame that Nick Mayer and/or Paramount didnt have the balls to release TWOK in this version in the cinemas when it was released originally.
I remember when I first got the video release and being shocked that it was rated a 15? I must have only been about 7 years old when it came out in the cinema. Which begs the question- How the hell did I get in to see it in the cinema? Did my sister comit a crime to get me into, what is now the Glasgow Carling Academy? Or was it rated diffrently then?

Have to say I'm absolutely salivating at the thought of the Generations SE release in a couple of months time

Oddly, TWOK SE is one of the few (alongside TFF) Trek SE's I haven't got

Not only is WOK the best Trek movie of them all, surely it should have been the last 'original series' film made? The end is so powerful/sad/brilliantly- scripted and this all counts for nothing because Spock is bizzarely resurrected in III. It should never have happened folks and I speak as some one who loves IV almost as much as WOK.

I still find it inconceivable how the continuity people got it so very wrong on WOK. I mean Checkov whispering "Botany Bay........Botany Bay?.......Oh no!" - as in "Oh no, I didn't join Star Trek until Season 2 so I have never been on this ship before and Khan won't recognise me as we have never met before!"

The even-numbered films are all great. Well, the TOS ones anyway. TWOK is probably the best of them but I like TUC as well.

I know I keep telling people that error as well

Khan, being the superbeing that he claimed to be, obviously magicked the whole event

Actually, there is an (albeit anal) explanation as to why Khan knows Chekov - 'Space Seed' has the stardate 3141.9, while several Season 2 episodes (such as Catspaw and Patterns of Force) have confirmed stardates prior to this date.

Therefore Chekov was on the Enterprise during of the Khan incident and therefore met Khan (it happened off-screen! :)) and was off-duty at the time, so explaining why he wasn't seen on the bridge :)

:lmao: I had heard something like this before although presumably Walter Koenig wasn't convinced because he chose to stay quiet when he read the script! ;)

What always made me laugh about the whole thing was that George Takei just sat back and didn't say it should have been Sulu and not Chekov who was involved - and then spent years afterwards bemoaning the fact that Sulu didn't get to do anything worthwhile in the first two movies.

Crichton Kicks - October 7, 2004 06:08 PM (GMT)
Hardly like George to stay quiet. Look what happened when he thought there was a chance in hell they'd do a Sulu series. He lobbied for all he's worth
