Watched this film again last night on TCM (didnt finish till 2am!!!). Still think it is an excellent film (although the 2nd one is better!!!) and the scene where Superman first shows himself and rescues Lois Lane still gives me an adrenalin rush.
What a shame the series deteriorated into the rubbish that was Superman 4 - that was very poorly edited and had scenes wripped straight from the other movies.
Hopefully, when the new movie gets made, if it ever does, it will return the Man of Steel back to the greatness he deserves.
Hopefully it will go darker a la Batman
I didn't care much for the third movie either to be honest, Richard Pryor always did my head in !!
One of the things I loved most about the original movies was the John Williams score, they used this so very effectively in a recent episode of Smallville.
Can't wait for the new movie, it's had loads of production problems but c'mon !! It's Superman, get it going.
I'd love to see it take a darker tone as well, but as far as the comics and their adaptations go, Batman has the market cornered on dark and brooding :)
The first movie was wonderful. Everything up until Jonathan Kent's death is perfect.
