The Pain in the Heart

Discuss. :)

It may be due to the aftereffects of my root canal but I found this finale uninvolving despite every effort to intensify it.

First of all, I didn't like the glib way they shuffled aside Booth's shooting. In fact, he didn't act like a man who was shot (I don't recall if they decided he hadn't been).

And then comes the old-old gimmick of bringing the search for the big bad Gormagon too close to home. Still, I was surprised at the resolution, but considering how they did away with Booth's wounding, I'm betting on a similar dodgy fix to that story.

Well they did say the funeral was 2 weeks after the incident. And you could clearly see the bandaged wound when he was in the bath. Also he did wince when moving that arm a few times in the episode.

I admit that it annoyed me at first too, especially Bones seeming lack of emotion (except for when she decked him), but when she turned on Sweets I sort of suspected that she held a lot of emotion over his 'not' death because she suspected his experiment.

As for the Gormogon revelation. That just pretty much knocked me out.
Although it really did make sense that it would seem logical to him, it was just heartbreaking for everyone else and left me feeling kind of empty.

I wonder what they would have done differently if not for the strike, not that the resultwould have been any different, but what stories got cut short? Possibly the aftermath of the shooting? A whole episode dealing with Booths 'death' and the gangs reactions?

I just wonder if that's going to be enough to get the show another year, did I see somewhere that it's already been renewed? I think I did...

Anyway, I wasn't "blown away" by the ending. The only show on TV that consistently blows me away is LOST. And obviously they have been told by the powers that be that is the braintrust at FOX that one of the ways to continue the show is by cutting out some cast members, and yeah I said members so I wouldn't be at all surprised if at least one more doesn't return next season.

I'm sad to see Zach go though, I liked the little nerdy guy. I have a feeling he will be replaced by that little guy that we met during Temp's fathers trial. Don't you think?

OMG :o Zac is Gormagon's Apprentice!!! I would never have guessed that.

I loved the bathroom scene :lmao:  :lmao: and Bones hitting Booth over the head with the fake arm.

I was so disappointed with this finale. <_<

While I enjoyed seeing the old bash everyone Brennan at the funeral, I thought the Booth explanation was beyond lame. It felt like a scene concocted just for the shock factor in a trailer.

Ditto to previous comments about the writers` strike/shortened season. :) The It- was-Zac-wot-done-it denouement was just plain stupid to me; they tried to make it believable but it just wasn`t. None of the explanations hung together for me ; with Zac injured, who broke into Limbo, boiled the bones in the skeleton for several hours to get rid of the silver, then hid them with the other bones ? The Gormogong who no-one had ever heard of ? They tried to explain that there were no security cameras in Limbo, but come on .

And nice, nerdy Zac killed someone ? I just don`t buy it.

Everything just seemed rushed. Agree about the Booth explanation, why go to all the trouble to get Booth to save Brennan's life just to gloss over it so quickly?

Once that they decided to make Gormo's apprentice an insider there were only two options but it wasn't done well. If that had something to do with the writer's strike then I suppose that's an explanation.
