Oscar-nominated actress Angela Bassett is to join the cast of medical drama ER, according to a report. Bassett, who gained critical acclaim for her portrayal of Tina Turner, will become a regular in the upcoming final series of the long-running show. The Hollywood Reporter says Bassett will play a nurse with a troubled past whose arrival causes a storm. Original cast member Noah Wyle is also expected to be seen in the 15th and last season in at least four episodes. Bassett's character will make her entrance in episode two, returning to Chicago after working in Indonesia as a tsunami relief worker. The 49-year-old actress recently finished filming Notorious, a biopic about late rap star Notorious BIG.
