I'm not entirely sure what CBS are waiting for. They apparently, still haven't ordered the 'series finale' ending to 2x07.
I think the above article was a little harsh on New Amsterdam. "Ratings continued to slide". Well, let's be fair, putting it into context, it moved from a post-Idol slot to a regular slot and lost less than a million viewers. It still pulled in nearly 9 million viewers, which in Fox terms is very, very good.
The author seems to be "caught in a theme" where he feels a need to tie the elements of an article together. It would destroy this theme for him to look at things from a broader perspective or in context.
I agree with you, James, that NA's ratings were pretty respectable even if they lost some viewers from it's lead-in, the premiering CANTERBURY'S LAW (a tough situation to be in).
Even JERICHO's rating can be shined up a bit considering (A) it's timeslot, (B) the lengthy hiatus, © the disturbances due to the writers strike and (D) TV's overall ratings slip.
Early indications are that this week's numbers are pretty similar to last week's, which considering that the first half hour went up against the backend of Dancing with the Stars, isn't too bad.
Apparently, the preview for next week's episode refers to it as the 'season finale'. Far from conclusive obviously, but let's keep our fingers crossed that it's a positive sign. Guess we'll find out soon enough now either way.
