Desmond suffers unexpected side effects after he and Sayid hit turbulence.

Wow, what an amazing episode. Desmond's "side effects" making him think he was in 1996 and having no memory of the island.

The auction having the Black Rock stuff for sale, and Penny's dad buying it - any connection to the island or Dharma perhaps? Did her dad have something to do with Desmond ending up on the island, considering it was his boat race?

Penny knows about the island, and mentioned speaking to Charlie. Why have the boat been blocking her calls? Why are they so hostile about having Desmond and Sayid on the boat? Maybe Locke was right not to trust the people on the boat, but don't exactly trust Locke either.

Who opened the door on the boat? I have a suspicion its the character who's name appears in the credits, but hasn't been seen yet -Michael.

What did everyone else think?

I thought it was another cracking episode.

Desmond has actually become one of my favourite characters and I found it really quite moving when he managed to get through to Penny at the end. :tear:

The whole time travel & time discrepancy thing just add's another whole level of confusion and intrigue to things but it was really well done and I'm desperate to learn more.

I'm loving S4 so far. :)

I'm sure that Penny's dad (Jim Robinson) has got everything to do with Dharma/the boat, I think that is why we have Desmond on the island and the Penny storyline as it links with him.

It was a good episode although it is so infuriating learning a little more and then it throwing up more questions again. We still don't know the intentions of the boat crew although they seem to be divided. Some seem to be purely there for the mission what ever reason and others somewhat shadier :ermm:

Arguably, this is one of the best episodes that Lost's ever done.

Ian Henry Cusack (Desmond) is rapidly making himself an absolutely essential part of Lost, much as Michael Emerson (Ben) did last season.

With this, and 'Flashes before your Eyes' (not to mention the other episode which escapes me), has there been a bad Desmond-centric story yet?

Most Desmond eps are good. Wasn't too keen on the flashbacks for Catch 22 (the one where they found Naomi and the fb showed him in monastry). I loved Live Together, Die Alone - his first flashback in the hatch/S2 finale. Flashes Before Your Eyes and The Constant were both unique for Lost, without flashbacks but seemingly all happening at the time, which they haven't done for any other character.

I liked the twist at the end where Faraday read out of his diary that Desmond was his constant.

In a word, no.

I just hope that they don't go down the route that they did with my other favourite character, Mr Eko, ie. kill him!

That or decide they need a story explaining a tattoo he has? :)

The tattoo flashback/that whole ep was a big mistake, a waste of a Jack flashback. Wasn't so keen on Mr. Eko, but agree they shouldn't kill off Desmond, his character relates to the answers in the show, i don't see how they can end it without a Des/Penny rescue/reunion.
