Title: Gilmore Girls

Fangy and grrr - February 25, 2008 05:44 PM (GMT)
I don't think that many people here watch Gilmore Girls and those that do are probably well ahead of me anyway but I wanted to say something about the end of S4 and beginning of S5 so just to be safe.

Spoliers for S4-S5.4 below:

All I really wanted to say was Hallef*****glujah at Lorelai and Luke finally, at last getting it together. :yahoo:

It never got frustrating or annoying for me the way these will they won't they things can often get but I really was so happy when it finally happened. :tear: :)

For those of you ahead of me if it's all gone horribly wrong then don't tell me, don't burst my happy Lorelai/Luke bubble. :)

little pixie - February 25, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
Awww ! :D

I`ve got the last season ( S7 ) still to watch. Tom, have you got the last 2 seasons or are they not out yet on R2/4 ? :)

I can`t bear to start the final season yet `cos it`s the last one. Ever. :ph43r:

Fangy and grrr - February 28, 2008 01:29 AM (GMT)
I can imagine how you feel :( although for some reason I had it in my head that S6 was the final season so now I've got another whole season to look forward to. :)

S6 is available on region 2/4 but I don't think S7 is.

little pixie - February 28, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
I decided to stop being such a baby ( ) and get started on S7 ; I nearly finished the first episode and then the earthquake happened. :)

It`s a sign ! :o

Fangy and grrr - March 3, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
Should we be preparing for more earthquakes ? :fear: ;)

Is S7 the one where the creator left or was that S6 ?

little pixie - March 3, 2008 04:54 PM (GMT)

I think the Palladinos left after S6. :ponder:

tvguide.com/amy-sherman-palladino

Yep, S7 was helmed by someone else.

There`s news here << Points at clicky >>, but I wouldn`t look at any of it until you`ve finished the whole series, due to major spoilage. ;)

Fangy and grrr - March 3, 2008 06:25 PM (GMT)
:o

So you've posted a link that I cannot, shouldn't and absolutely must not look at. You really are too kind. :snooty: ;)

Is S7 noticably different without them ?

:lmao:

I do hope you don`t think I`m doing it to tease and torment you. :whistling:  ;)

Hmm, I`m only 3 eps into S7, so shall reserve judgement till it`s all over. *Sniff*

I thought S6 - which the Palladinos were involved with - was a bit different from the previous seasons. I felt that they were heading in a let`s wrap things up direction, whereas the first seasons just existed and flowed for me. :ponder:

I gave up on S6 after a couple of eps and it took me a while to go back and watch the whole season. I did end up liking it and I`m glad I`ve got it and will rewatch it, but it`s a little different from the previous seasons, imo.

There are still some great moments, though.

Oh, and going back to the clicky, don`t look at it !

I inadvertently managed to spoil - entirely by accident - on a couple of very major things and shall kick myself forever over them. :snooty:

Well, possibly not forever.

But for a very long time. :ph43r:

I saw a pic and assumed I`d spoiled again, but it wasn`t Rory, it was Alexis Bledel as her Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2 character, so I had indeed avoided spoilage. For once.

You`d think they could invent a spoilage blocker.

I've no idea I've only seen the trailer and that plus the less than snappy title led to my rather judgemental surprise that it earned a sequel. :ph43r:

I should now better as I was quite :snooty: about Gilmore Girls until I happened to catch five minutes of it one morning.

Any news yet of which US shows will be getting the axe and if this new directive is only for CH4 or will affect (effect?) E4 and More 4 too. It woudl be a shame to lose shows like Without a Trace, Reaper, Desperate Housewives."

Neil: It's affect. I think what you're hearing about Channel 4 pledging to cut US commissions is all about PR. At the moment the broadcaster is desperately trying to prove its integrity, so you'll get statements about slashing US imports, Big Brother being shifted to E4, and so on. In reality the effect (it's a noun now) won't be that great, and as long as you have E4 - and of course, rival digital channels - you'll be fine. For instance, I hear that E4 has just done a deal for a bunch of old US shows, starting with the short-lived Taye Diggs drama Kevin Hill (airing from April 2) but also including Gilmore Girls. All this said, it's not entirely out of the question that C4 will lose the rights to Desperate Housewives after this season.

I listened to the commentary on 5x07: You Jump, I Jump, Jack and it's amazing to think how close they were to not getting Lauren Graham :o I find it hard to imagine the show working without her.

little pixie - April 6, 2008 04:05 PM (GMT)
Really ??! :o

And ditto - I can`t see anyone else in the role. :ponder:

I`m up to 7 x 09 now . :tear:

I`m not spoiling you for that ep, just commenting on how few eps I`ve got left to see. ;)

I`ve got all 7 seasons on DVD but I`ve only seen 6 and part of 7 on DVD , since I watched the others on Hallmark. I`ll do a mega rewatch once I`ve finished with season 7. I don`t think Season 6 had any extras ; maybe just one cut scene.

Fangy and grrr - April 8, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
On the commentary they said that Lorelai was the last part to be cast for the pilot which on the one hand is a surprise in that she's probably the most important character but on the other hand for that very reason probably the most difficult to cast. What they also revealed was that when they cast LG for the pilot she was already attached to another show and that show had first option on her but they went ahead and made the pilot with LG anyway and everybody loved her but had the other show been picked up ( it wasn't ) they would of lost her. :o

Like I said I find it impossible to imagine the show without her but then I'm sure there are so many similar cases when an actor who seems born to play a particular role only got it by accident.

little pixie - April 8, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
Sadly, I do wonder if Lorelei will be the highlight of LG`s career; she`s just so good in the role - and what a role !

E4 are to start showing Gilmore Girls from the beginning starting this Friday June 6 @ 8:50am &11.35am.

:)

little pixie - June 1, 2008 12:39 PM (GMT)
Excellent ! Thanks for the heads-up, Tom, have put the info in the calendar in case anyone wants to see it from the beginning. :)

From Tube Talk on Digital Spy;

QUOTE
Hey Neil.

Now that E4 is airing Gilmore Girls, is there any chance that they are going to get the final 2 seasons? I've been waiting for AGES to see them and Hallmark never got them.

Tilly

Neil: Hurrah! A long-standing Tube Talk mystery has been solved. The final two seasons of Gilmore Girls will finally be seen in the UK, for I am told that E4 has picked up the rights to all seven seasons of the show. By my reckoning, at current rate that means the sixth season will air from November 6 and the final season from December 8. All happy?

:)

little pixie - July 10, 2008 08:21 PM (GMT)
Wow ! I may have finally watched my remaining 5 episodes by the time E4 airs them.

Does this mean you won`t need to buy the DVDs, Tom, or would you get them anyway ? :ponder:

Once I`ve finished the series ( *sniff !* :tear: ) I`ll need to schedule a rewatch from the beginning with all the commentaries and stuff. Once I`ve gone through my SG-1 box, that is. :)

I might have to order S7 pretty soon as in a total contradiction of my previous comments I've just had a bit of a Gilmore Girls lost weekend where I watched .. ahem  14 episodes in one sitting ! :toomuchtv: :toomuchtv: :ph43r: and I mean one sitting - started about midnight on saturday night and didn't stop till about 11:00am sunday morning. :o I watched the final two episodes of S5 which ends with< Lorelai asking Luke to marry her :tear: :yahoo: but also with Lorelai and Rory apart :tear: :( so I had to start S6 to see if Luke said yes and I thought I'd keep going until Lorelai & Rory are reunited ... they don't get back together till about the end of episode 9. Then Luke's daughter turns up ... :toomuchtv: ;) It was weird I didn't feel tired at all so I just kept going. I think I may be addicted, what am I going to do when I finish the series? :ph43r: ;)

I watched 3 episodes last night. I've just become the proud owner of S2.

I blame Katie entirely for this. She's been banging on about GG for years, and I finally gave in and bought S1. Then I was hooked (I adore the French guy at the Inn!!).

She's now trying to persuade me that Felicity is a good idea.

:ph43r:  ;)

*cough* Felicity *cough* :whistling:

14 eps ?? :o

>> I had problems with the first half of S6 - I didn`t like that Rory and Lorelei were apart, and actually gave up watching after a few eps. When I eventually went back to the DVDs, it took ages for them to heal the rift - looking back, it was good for the characters and it all fitted in with the family dynamic, but.... I just didn`t like it at the time. :(

Hey just cause I love Gilmore Girls don't think that means you're gonna convert me into watching every girly show going. :snooty: ;) ........ Hmmm Felicity :ponder: ;) Is it any good ?

:lmao:

It`s good, and it only lasted for 4 ( excellent ) seasons, so you won`t need to buy as many discs as you have for the GG. ;)

How come only S1 to S3 of GG seems to be available now? sk

Yeah I could only find S1 -3 available for Region 2 so what I did was buy S1 - 6 from CD WoW where they sell the Australian version which is Region 4 but Region 2 compatiable. Plays fine on my dvd player and they were quite cheap as well. :)
