| A body in a derelict warehouse leads DCI Gene Hunt to a group of Trotskyite revolutionary feminists. Which is, of course, a match made in heaven for a man who's only recently learnt to walk upright. Watching Hunt's lip curl in utter disdain as he launches himself into a meeting of the Revolutionary Workers Front with the deadpan "Oooh, good, women" is a precious thing, thanks to the peerless Philip Glenister. But this is serious and murky stuff. After some very shady people commandeer the body, there's a strong suspicion that the security services are involved in a full-scale cover-up. DI Alex Drake (Keeley Hawes), meanwhile, visits her childhood home and learns something seedy about her mother. In some ways, the stories in Ashes to Ashes don't matter, as they are merely the vehicles for the week's "will they, won't they?" moment between Gene and Alex. And tonight, things get very steamy indeed. RT reviewer - Alison Graham |
