Title: Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Description: UK Pace No Spoilers
buffy_fan1 - February 23, 2008 12:11 AM (GMT)
I thought we should have a thread to discuss the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles for those who have to watch at UK Pace on Virgin1 a place to post without spoilers. I hope that's okay?
Wow I've been looking forward to this for months now and I wasn't disappointed a great opening with Sarah's nightmare. Then the consequences as Sarah forced walk on the a little normality and happiness she and John had found. The scene the class room was great and the later Cameron say those famous words come with me if you want to live.
I had to laugh when Sarah says to Cameron better put those back in holster after she finished repairing herself, spoilsport. :naughty: I did feel a little sorry for John he thought Cameron was just normal girl who liked him instead she's his bodyguard but when she took a chips as the American say so something different so maybe a friend of sorts?
Richard T Jones played a great part the question his will Ellison change his mind about Sarah now the witness says Cromartie had a robot leg? A time machine hidden in bank vault clever so welcome to the future or in our case the present. Cameron does what every Terminator does beat people up and take their clothes referencing the films surprised they were bold enough to do it the small screen. I can't wait for next week's episode!
prophecy girl - February 23, 2008 04:41 PM (GMT)
just wonder whatever happened to the guy who built the time machine and hide it in the bank  ......... i know it's a long way to go from 1963 to 1999 but he could have tried to contact sarah connor or maybe john just ask him to not disrupt the time line : just do your job and get a life

Really enjoyed this episode ; the best thing I`ve seen in a very long time.
I liked the little homages to T2, like when Cameron ( oh dear, I`ve just realised why she`s called Cameron   ) stands at the window while the sun rises, and when Sarah Connor watches Cameron and John talk outside the shop. :)
Thought Lena Headey was terrific in the role.
Thought it was interesting to have them jump forward 8 years , and to have Sarah Connor`s ex see her on TV, presumably looking the same. :)
prophecy girl - February 23, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
i suppose the official reason to move to 2007 was because of skynet 2011 deadline, the unofficial it was too hard for the writers to think 1999 all the time and well mobile phone recording was not that good in 1999
little pixie - February 23, 2008 07:04 PM (GMT)
Was it just me thinking Shouldn`t that be whom ? during the Sarah and John scene in his bedroom when she says they`re leaving ? :ph43r:

I really need to watch T2 again as haven't seen it for a few years now so missed a lot homages  Summer Glau admitted she had never seen any of the Terminator film before she went for the part her dad had to buy the DVDs before she auditioned so at least I'm good company when comes to needing to brush up on my Terminator knowledge.
I wonder if Agent Ellison has been looking for them for years what will do if finds them? :ponder: Is there cover already blown as at least one person has photos of them all when they arrived in 2007?
Although there are couple shows I'm enjoying at the moment but non that I would call must see well now I do great stuff.

cameron telling sarah about her dying of cancer two years ealier (a nod to T3 film) but now she just have to go to hospital (sure there is the risk of being arrested by FBI man but with cameron as bodyguard, john should be safe  )
star_fury - February 26, 2008 07:22 PM (GMT)
I didn't see this thread before posting on the other one so here's what I posted...
1.1
Not a bad start to the series and even though by the end I was gagging to see the next episode, I felt it could use a lot of improvements.
I personally didn't think much of the Terminator so I'm glad to hear he's been replaced. Not exactly sure why the Terminator was hiding his pistol in his leg? I'm sure he could have carried it inconspicuously some other way, although I suspect they perhaps originally intended to have the Terminator bringing back a weapon from the future. Something we may see later?
One thing I didn't like was just before the Terminator went out of the window of the classroom after John, he turns to the kids and says something like class is out. To me that just didn't seem right.
Another big negative for me was after Summer glau's Terminator electrocuted the chasing Terminator why didn't she finish him off before he rebooted ?
Agree PG it was a nice touch to have the family from T 2 although I have to admit I was scratching my head wondering if it was the same actors?
I really liked the ending however it's left me wondering what happened to their clothes, the futuristic gun, the Time Machine, the Terminator and any other leftover future technology? Was this explained or had I had one too many beers? If it wasn't that could have some major implications for the future although surely they wouldn't be that sloppy having been planning and building all these devices since the early Sixties?
I liked the little mention of Sarah Connor dying of cancer in whatever year it was, as in Terminator 3. I wonder though will we see that Sarah Connor has faked her death perhaps leaving it open for her character to return in the forthcoming 2nd Terminator Trilogy movies?
will read everyones posts on this thread later. :)

When first watched the episode I wondered the same thing Cameron should have destroyed Cromartie. Then I got to thinking maybe she couldn't? Cameron was designed to mimic humans as fast intelligent and very strong but perhaps not powerful enough to beat her opponent who although I'm Terminator fan not really as knowledgeable as I should be Cromartie looked build solely for battle. So her best chance of keep them all safe was to run it worked.
I have a question according to Sky there are 9 episodes in season 1 it seem like a odd number to me please tell me they are planning more! I was going to look on the net for answers but I didn't want to hit spoilers

Think there were supposed to be 13 but then some pesky writers decided to not write anything for several months :)

Thanks Paul :) I assumed that it was the fault of writer's strike but wasn't sure as
imdb.com had listed 12 episodes for season 1 but when I looked there no information on episode 10, 11 an 12. So any word on when we'll will get the next episodes?

episode 1.2
a bit better than the first episode, a little (re)discovery of their world for john and sarah, john being a bit reckless by visiting a computer shop then to visit old sarah old boyfriend
not sure about the all robot body finding head (was that last episode bad guy? )
summer glau was doing ok with her character (she took her time to tell sarah that she "understood" the tin man reference  )
little pixie - February 29, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
Really liking Summer Glau , especially the way she runs with no expression on her face.
Nice bit at the end when it turns out that her old friend was turning her in. :)

and why would the head on the side of a road and the body in a cars dump when the terminator was destroyed in a bank  did the bank blow up (not sure if it was mentionned  ), and how did the cops/military/skynet/..... failed to not notice it (unless they are only good i noticing tiny bits  )

 I didn't think of the kid  D'oh
but I did think it could be the same woman.
Episode 1.2
I'm fairly certain I remember the head coming off the terminators body in the bank but how come the head managed to go through in the first place? Nothing metal can go through the time distortion/portal unless it's completely encased in flesh.
Forgetting that I don't really buy into the head coming through it was pretty tough to believe the body finding the head. Giving it some thought I suppose the head could have accessed spy satellites to help remotely guide its body back to the head. But then the question is why did the headless skeleton end up on a dump? I would have thought cyberdyne or the US government would have gotten its hands on it even if the bank exploded. No doubt there would be accounts from banks staff, customers, the police Swat team must have investigated seeing the terminated trying to break into the vault etc meaning everything couldn't have just been coincidentally missed when the bank may have exploded.
Like you said PG I think it's a flaw in the writing, I just don't think they're planning or thinking things out properly.
Pixie, I think I personally would have preferred it to remain ambiguous whether her old friend did turn her in or not.

I think they are all built for battle but each new model is an improvement on the last. I would say she's the more advanced unit and probably as such is even tougher even within her seemingly slender body.
star_fury - March 9, 2008 05:31 PM (GMT)
The head definitely comes off as it is in the previously on the Sarah Connor chronicles sequence at the beginning of episode 1.3. I thought that was the case and it's a shiny metal head that goes through, so a big tut tut tut to everyone involved.
So while I like the series so far it's more than a bit disappointing that such basics in the Terminator lore haven't been followed.
I'm not sure what to say about this third episode other than I probably enjoyed it the most of all the episodes so far and looks like the series could be going in an interesting direction. Also I wouldn't be surprised if the guy a with the chess AI returns getting more than a little help from the Terminator.

Ep 1.05
"he is your father's brother"
i didn't see that one coming, i suppose he didn't know about cameron or he just have issue with anything robotic :ermm:
the FBI plot is kind of boring
star_fury - March 27, 2008 03:33 PM (GMT)
I certainly didn't see it coming either but thought it was a terrific twist. I would think he just has an issue with all robots after all I doubt he's come into any contact with protector terminators.
I'm finding the FBI story thread fairly interesting as the agent slowly uncovers piece by piece. Although I did find the internal politics to be dull
The series is definitely improving with each and every episode so far. I'm going to be disappointed if it doesn't get picked up for a second season. Does anybody know if there's any new episodes after the initial nine episodes? Is it nine episodes?
little pixie - March 27, 2008 04:38 PM (GMT)
I`ve not seen anything about more than 9 eps.
Nice twist for John to have a family member.
And aww to the bit when Cameron `makes friends` with that chess robot and the little robotic dog - I thought it was quite touching. :)

flash-forward  , still doesn't explain reese trouble with cameron, she saved his life or does he think it's a different robot ? :ponder: still why is cameron keeping the terminator chip if she said every bit had to be destroyed ? :ponder:
sarah and ex boyfriend charlie, complicated but still chemistry
:lmao: charlie and cameron

Charlie: You know, little girl? You freak me the hell out. On the outside, you're just as pretty as a picture. But on the inside, you're a -- Cameron: Hyper-alloy combat chassis. Charlie: Is that a complicated way of saying 'robot'? Cameron: Cybernetic organism. Living tissue over a metal endoskeleton. Charlie: Okay. Scary robot. And here you are, carving up this guy into chum. Cameron: He's not a guy. He's a scary robot. Charlie: Okay, he's a scary robot? You, are a very scary robot |
great story

someone heard about summer glau's past as a ballet dancer  (or watched "waiting in the wings") to use that bit in the plot for the hunt of the Turk and to show that maybe cameron is starting to act more and more like a human (why would she continue to dance once her mission completed if not? )
sarah past in the asylum is reminded to us here

I could be wrong but wasn't the information about summer glau being a ballet dancer mentioned in the Serenity extras? If I recall correctly it was something to do with them talking about her fight sequences and why she performed so well.
I think we may find out sometime in the future that she has something along the lines of an emotion chip. I think that's why she was more animated and human when we first saw her in the pilot. Then when she was known to John and Sarah as a Terminator she shut off her emotions. anyway for whatever reason I'm looking forward to uncovering the truth.
little pixie - April 8, 2008 01:17 PM (GMT)
Erm, I was convinced Ellison was a robot too.
I liked the bit at the end with Cameron dancing; thought it was very nicely done. :)

who called the russian hitmans? because it seemed they have been looking for the russian guy for a while and they didn't seem to worry about cameron being a witness when they went in :ermm:

1.8 (one episode to go)
loved cameron way to deal with cromartie  would she have try a more violent way to deal with him if they had been out of the school? :ermm:
traffic system as the nerves of skynet :ponder: , the flashback/video of the terminator was interesting
in the flashforward, reeve seemed he was a bit more close to the team sent back in time and yet they didn't seem to communicate a lot about who was doing what :ermm:
star_fury - April 14, 2008 10:09 PM (GMT)
Kyle Reece's brother is starting to concern me. Sure he's not going to be trusting of any Terminator but it's little things, and little comments he says that make me wonder if he's either a, a new more human infiltrating Terminator that doesn't use computer chips and metal Endo skeleton. Or perhaps b, he's been brainwashed and has an unknown mission. He doesn't seem to wholeheartedly trust Sarah and John's judgement which in itself is not a big thing but then he had the comment to John about you'd be surprised how many people break (possibly during his flash forward episode) where something happened to him and then they just left their prisoners to escape.
Cameron's plan to let Cromarty think he's exhausted that lead was rather unexpected. I am curious why she was following him? It didn't seem as if she was trying to be very covert following him, like perhaps she was planning to take him down? I think she definitely thinks in a more human and unpredictable way.
prophecy girl - April 15, 2008 09:32 AM (GMT)
if reece had been brainwashed, he would have killed john a long time ago, now he had a talk with old john in the future before he was sent back to time so maybe he was told something about young john and his need to be prepare. it seem that reece have a hard time to see john as the future leader of the resistance
cameron starting to follow cromartie, maybe she wanted to know where he was going (home) and have herself or reece to watch him and then try to take him down. i think cromartie is so concentrate on his mission to find john, he wouldn't really notice cameron
prophecy girl - April 19, 2008 03:17 PM (GMT)
1.9
cameron went boom  or is she gonna get out of it?
loved reece showing john his father (even if he is only 8/9 years old) for his birthday
not sure about the latina girl from episode two, cameron asking her if she need to kill her now and then give her a gun :ermm:
morris asking cameron for the prom and john telling cameron to say yes, i would have loved to see that one :lmao:
fbi man losing his team to cromartie (i did like the slow motion of the fbi guys ending up in the swimming pool) but cromartie not killing him :ermm: something there :ponder:

About time I got back to posting here... seems like I've been away for ages, for reasons too numerous to mention, and undoubtedly too boring as well!
Seems like a good subject to put my first oar in for sometime, so here goes!
I loved this show! What a terrific first season, even if it was a short one. I loved the whole Terminator thing from the movies, and I thought the SCC worked really well. Great stuff! Of course, being a big Summer fan, I had a head start in liking it.
Lots of thought provoking stuff, and I'm really pleased to see that the show has been renewed.
Andy
