2/8 Time-warp detective Alex Drake has fun with her antediluvian colleagues as she breezes into work with a cheery, "Good morning, imaginary constructs!" Unfortunately for Alex (Keeley Hawes), they're all too real and she's stuck with them until she can work out a way to return to 2008 and her small daughter. But first, the marriage of Lady Diana Spencer and the Prince of Wales is looming and there's a crazed bomber to be found. DCI Gene Hunt (Philip Glenister), meanwhile, uses his velvet glove charms and winning personality to shift a family refusing to move from their home, which is standing in the way of the London Docklands renewal. It's smart and funny, and the soundtrack is fantastic (Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark! Tenpole Tudor!). However, I know it's 1981, but would a senior woman detective really wear quite so many off-the-shoulder tops to work as Alex Drake?

I still haven`t seen the first ep.

I didn't think the first episode worked that well but this episode was much better, more more coherent with some pretty funny lines. :)
I understand Keely Hawes is getting a bit of stick but I actually think she's been pretty good ( better than I thought she'd be ) and that Alex has a nice sparky relationship with Gene and the rest of the team.

Have to say, I've enjoyed both episodes thus far.
There's a different dynamic this time around in that Drake knows where she is and why.
Re Keeley Hawes, I think she's a very capable replacement for John Simm. I loved Simm in the Tyler role, but Hawes is just as good IMO. Not to mention she's better looking!
I see that the numbers were down by 1m from the first episode but still decent enough to win the timeslot. Fairly sure that the Beeb have already committed to a second season anyway.

a good second episode
 drake meeting her mother and from there sparks are flying  , seem she finally found the reason she is in the past: save her parents from a bomb
still she didn't upset too much gene about the all charles and diana wedding :shifty: just annoying him a bit by trying to talk to the bad guys in place of rushing in and kicking ass.

I found the Alex Drake character much more likeable in this ep ; she seemed more of a member of the team rather than an outsider standing around criticising.
Loved the whole I`ll let you stamp my bum scene. :lmao: :ph43r:
As Tom says, this ep did feel more coherent.
Thought it was a nice touch to see Alex`s mum who turned out to be not that nice, particularly to Big and Little Alex, and to see that she did the finger quotey thing. :)
