What would a sitcom be if the young man who moved into an apartment building named "El Capitan" didn't discover himself surrounded by quirky people and one or two sexy ones? Dull, I suppose. So the creators of this new half-hour series re-used the moldy old premise. Yet I thought it was amiable even if it's not going to set the world on fire.

This one is set in Hollywood so the tenants are often on the fringe of show business. There's an aging tenant whose claim to fame is as a writer on THREE'S COMPANY (Jeffrey Tambor), an aging and oversexed beauty (Raquel Welch), the lothario best friend (not again!) of the new tenant (Chris Klein), a hispanic hotel clerk who prefers the Anglo pronounciation of his name "Jesus" (Al Madrigal), and a very pretty acupunturist (Joanna Garcia -- yummy former cast member of REBA). The young man at the center is played by Fran (Yes! "Fran") Kranz.

To improve it, the writers will need to make the characters more intriguing or, better yet, make something of the hotel's supposed show business history. Or just make Joanna the star of the show.
