I've already read a massive amount of spoilers for this episode, I'm quite interested in 2x05 though so will try and keep spoiler free for that.
Trailer.1.19 mins of 2x04. It's the scene right after the titles.

2x06 Reset is going to be shown right after 2x05 on BBC Three according to the Radio Times. Bit odd to start doing this halfway through the season but I'm not going to complain

First impressions, will need to give it another viewing before I form proper views.
- We're back to sarcastic!Ianto again. Favourite quips included
"We could release a single"
A comment about having to look after the alien, bet that's what ended happening with Myfanwy
-Kick-ass Ianto . Though surely Jack should have at least asked if he was alright before ordering him after the remaining baddies?
-We're back to the Jack/Gwen UST that seemed a bit out of place in 2x02. I hope this episode helps Gwen to see how much she loves Rhys, 'cause I'd hate to see them going down the 'Jack loves Gwen' route.
-Rhys. I quite liked Rhys last season and I liked him here but somehow not as much as I did last season. Still glad they didn't kill him off (again) and I quite liked his interaction with the team.
- Aww Tosh. Still has her crush on Owen, and he's still oblivious (Though that will be flipped on it's head next week)
-Probably the weekest episode of the season so far, but considering how good the other three episodes have been it's got a lot to live up to.
Next week's looks really good.
prophecy girl - February 7, 2008 10:22 AM (GMT)
 ianto having a bit of kicking baddies actions and threatening the bad guy in case anything happen to the team
gwen trying just a bit too hard to prove to jack she love rhys :ermm: and then finally throwing a bit of an ultimatum to jack after rhys proved that he was worth it and jack refusing to let her go because he care (or more) for her (maybe ianto should worry). rhys telling jack what the what and jack not impressed but commenting about the tension being a bit "homo erotic"
jack/ianto ... tiny and subtle way to show they have something and then you got tosh trying way too hard to get owen to notice her .......... owen completly failing to do so or is just not interested
rhys going undercover and getting in a little too easily but i guess he wanted to find out what was going on and prove something to gwen (just wonder what he thought the "live meat" was ... i mean he didn't want to believe gwen about aliens)
jack did go a bit doctor when he said to the (whale lookalike) alien "my poor friend, what did they do to you"
an ok episode
 next week trailer, look like we are going to find about "blair" mentionned by john in episode one
little pixie - February 7, 2008 01:25 PM (GMT)
Hee, Ianto wearing a `bib` to eat his dinner !
The alien whale thingy looked a bit sock puppety to me.

You mean Gray/Grey? :ermm:. Way to ruin all the 'wonder who he is' mystery by telling us in the trailers
Making ofsInterview with writer Catherine TregennaEveryone's emails have been updated. However, it's the same message in everyone's inboxes (bar Ianto's).
Episode casefiles have also been updated. Includes a risk analysis of Rhys, A guide to keeping official secrets, Harwood's contract with the alien butchers, the jingle Rhys sings, and what I assume is Owen's scan of the creature.

the name sounded like blair  and yeah i would have probably wondered what jack was talking about if they hadn't shown the episode one flashback just before

I'll admit that this wasn't the best episode they've done, after the string of three strong episodes this came as a bit of a disappointment. Catherine Tregenna wrote last years wonderful Captain Jack Harkness and I expected this episode to be standout and it wasn't. Maybe it's because it focused so much on Gwen who, although I've tried I really have, I still get so fed up with her compassion being thrust into our faces. It's been toned down a lot since last year, and I actually liked her in the last two episodes but not so much here.
I liked Rhys last year, and I thought that he deserved a hell of a lot more than S1 Gwen. I just can't help thinking back to her telling him about Owen and then retconning him when she refuses to give him the pill at the end. I'm glad that she didn't, I think that Rhys' view of things could add a good perspective and might take some of the exposition constantly being given at Gwen. His enthusiasm at the end of the episode was just so sweet as well.
I wish the writers would decide just who they want Jack to end up with. There seemed to be a lot of Jack/Gwen undertones in the episode, especially at the end of the episode with "I'd know" and Gwen looking at Rhys while kissing Jack. I like them as friends but I'd much rather see how the Jack/Ianto thing works out. Like in KKBB it just seemed to jar with me.
* Glad to see that Rhys pulled over to answer his phone, but the engine was still running - naughty! One of my pet peeves is people who use their phones while driving without handsfree.
* Ianto eating with a bib again just like in Day One.
* We're back to Captain of the Innuendo Squad . Loved the alien meat gag, the little look at Rhys' "it's bigger than mine" and his conversation with Rhys' secretary (I really liked the slight beat before she got what he said as well).
* Just how didn't Jack see Rhys following them? He was right behind them at one point on a pretty well deserted road!
* I'd imagine that Gwen and Rhys arguing will be cut to shreds in the pre-watershed version (it's not shown up here so I don't know), I counted at least 8 swearwords that would need to be cut.
* Liked the looks Ianto's giving Jack when they're waiting for Gwen and Rhys. And a little grin there as well!
* "We're going to save it" ... "Guess who'll have to look after it in the meantime". Do you think that's what happened with Myfanwy? "Can I keep it?"
* The Tosh/Owen conversation I found quite uncomfortable to watch. Not because of the writing or acting or anything but because I knew she was going to be knocked back. I don't know whether to think that Owen is being oblivious to her feelings or is just brushing her off. Again it didn't sit well with how they've been interacting in the previous episodes.
* I really want to see more of action!Ianto.
Best line was still
Tosh: "We could feed the world."
Ianto: "We could release a single."

I`m going with....
Rhys : Aliens ?....... In Cardiff ?! :lmao:
I`m not sure about the Jack/Gwen undertones either; I don`t think that JB and thingy who plays Gwen have much in the way of chemistry. :ponder:

I like the friendship that's between them but when they do the scenes like Gwen watching Jack while kissing Rhys it just seems bizarre.

One of the things I've liked better about S2 has been how much better and more natural the banter and bond has been between the team as a whole but the one thing they have got completely wrong imo is the inter-team romance - we had two episodes of Tosh mooning over Owen with him apparently oblivious to it all then one episode where she has totally forgotten him and is all over Tommy and where Owen for the first time show's some feeling towards her but then this week it was back to Tosh mooning with Owen oblivious. It's the same with Jack & Gwen one episode there are meaningful looks and undertones between them then the next episode nothing. There's no continuity and the writers seem to switch the relationship's on and off in a rather arbitrary manner rather than having them grow more naturally.
Maybe, hopefully, it will get better. :ponder:
prophecy girl - February 10, 2008 05:54 PM (GMT)
yes, the only "couple" that is developed without too much change is jack and ianto (even if there is something going on with gwen) :ponder:
Laura - February 12, 2008 07:54 PM (GMT)
BBC Scotland just showed the pre-watershed version of Meat (the first one they've shown since KKBB, personally I think they should find a slot for them all or don't bother). There weren't as many cuts as I would have thought (but I did miss some bits of it).
-Gwen: "Have you ever eaten alien meat"
Jack: "Yeah"
Gwen: "What was it like?"
Jack: "He seemed to enjoy it."
Was removed entirely, we just had Gwen's grin as they walk away.
The Gwen/Rhys fight seemed a bit shorter but it still made sense. Rhys' "you fucking him" was changed to "you seeing him". And some of the lines seemed a bit shorter but I have a feeling that they may have filmed some lines with replacements for the swearwords.
Ianto's "I killed three girls" was cut from the trailer. So how exactly they're going to handle his storyline will be very interesting :ponder:
