Title: Damages BBC1 Pace

Fangy and grrr - January 20, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
If you were going to tune in to watch it tonight it's been moved to Monday this week, don't know if it's permanent or what.

Anyway I was wondering who's watching it and what you think about it ? I've really enjoyed it and am totally hooked. Glenn Close is excellent which I pretty much expected what I wasn't expecting was how good Ted Danson would be playing the bad guy.

little pixie - January 20, 2008 09:03 PM (GMT)
I`ve got 2 eps on tape to watch. :)

It`s on Monday for the next 2 weeks. :ponder:

prophecy girl - January 21, 2008 10:52 AM (GMT)
i really enjoy watching it

glenn close is fantastic and her character is really good, you discover some side of her character everytime, she is realy to do anything to get a witness and win a case, a bit scary

the flashs forward are interesting

Yeah sometimes in films / TV shows when they flash back and forwards with the time line it can get annoying but I think it works really well here.

probably because they are not too long  and it really make you want to know what happened, imo

Outta Sight - February 3, 2008 07:57 PM (GMT)
I gave up on this

I quite enjoyed the first and second episode but I'd got so much stored up in my Sky+ plus dvds and, whenever I tried to watch the third episode, I couldn't concentrate so I deleted it  I think Glenn Close was brilliant and, if it's repeated again, I'll certainly give it another try, it was just bad timing :ermm:

Fangy and grrr - March 5, 2008 12:48 AM (GMT)
Really enjoying this and I'm dying to know what could of caused Patti to end up in such a state in the flashbacks but I'm gonna have to wait for two weeks for it to return.

little pixie - March 5, 2008 06:15 PM (GMT)
I wondered where it had gone to in the schedules for next week.

Not that it affects me `cos I`m now 9 eps behind.

willowroolz - March 6, 2008 10:03 AM (GMT)
I think it's excellent, have really been enjoying it. I never really liked Glenn Close, but then came season 4 of The Shield and my opinion changed completely :)

Fangy and grrr - March 25, 2008 12:47 AM (GMT)
Well after tonight's episode I'm starting to wonder how many people are going to make it to the end of the series. :o

prophecy girl - March 25, 2008 10:13 AM (GMT)
I will definitly watch the finale, past and present storyline are starting to merge and the result is fantastic

Fangy and grrr - March 28, 2008 12:18 AM (GMT)
Are there many episodes left ?

two more, i think

Fangy and grrr - March 31, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Finale next week.

The time lines seem to have finally merged. I was trying to work out where their secret hiding place for the tape was - I thought it would be quite funny if it was inside the Statue of Liberty model/paperwieght thingy but I guess the police probably have it. :ponder:

I loved the way they did that

I can't believe they were all so shocked about Fisk committing suicide - I've been expecting him to do it for weeks...

I think you are probably right about the Statue of Liberty figurine holding the tape - otherwise why would they have made a point of showing Ellen holding it in flashforwards to the murder - other than to throw in a red herring of course?

prophecy girl - April 1, 2008 09:23 AM (GMT)
really good episode, the merging past/present was indeed really well done

if the police had the tape, wouldn't they asking ellen about it?

No if the tape is hidden inside the statue then they wouldn't know it was there but as Steve says we saw Ellen holding the statue at the murder scene and now we know that he left a message for her telling her he left it in their secret hiding place so she probably has the tape now.

Of course if the statue isn't the hiding place then this is all nonsense. :)

Who was the nice old guy lawyer calling ? they made it look like he was tipping off those goons who were following her at the end but I wonder if thats mis-direction and that was him calling Patti earlier to tell her Ellen was out. I'll be disappointed if he turns out to be a bad guy. :(

prophecy girl - April 2, 2008 08:56 AM (GMT)
there are so many twists (patty not really playing by the rule, neither the other team) that it's hard to know

But you were spot on. I bow to your powers of deduction

I thought that there might be less twists and turns in the finale, as everything seemed to be coming together the week before, but - if anything - there were more than ever. Frobisher getting shot shouldn't have been a shock but it did catch me off guard. I think Patty handing that tape over to the DA may come back to haunt her :ponder:

Hard to disassociate the end from what happened at the end of season 4 of The Shield, just with Glenn Close's roles reversed  It's a good set-up for another season, though.

prophecy girl - April 8, 2008 09:39 AM (GMT)
a great finale

I hope there will an other good case next year but the ellen/patty is gonna be one to watch

yeah but frobisher is dead (or is he?) so the tape is of no use to anyone

so the old lawyer is helping the FBI investigation against Patty, god knows how many cases she manipulate to her gain (apart that it was probably the first time she hired someone to have a witness, a mistake obviously)

/ I read somewhere there was going two more seasons

It will be useful to the FBI in their case against her, especially when she signed a non-disclosure agreement ;)

Only if the DA told them he has it and that it was patty who gave it to him (i doubt she would have done that if she didn't trust him or if she didn't have something on him), but then patty mentionned an election :ponder:

It was too deliberate for it not to be a set up for something further down the line, imo.

B) :snooty:

Well of course I wasn't going to mention it ... ;)

More twist's than I was expecting as well plus even more timeline jumping  but a good finale and nicely set up for the next season.

Hard to believe but Ellen is starting to look almost as scary as Patti. :fear:

from televisionaryblog.com

Over on Damages, which returns to FX later this year with a second season of (legal) battles, blackmail, and betrayal, casting is underway on three new roles: a female lawyer who will serve as opposing counsel; a new love interest for Ellen; and Patty Hewes' new client, a man described as "extremely manipulative (but seamless in his manipulation)... ego-maniacal type."

SPOILER ALERT! -> Good news: it does indeed look like Ted Danson WILL be back next season as shark-like billionaire Arthur Frobisher, after all. While Damages is definitely about the push and pull between female adversaries Patty (Glenn Close) and Ellen (Rose Byrne), I like the aura of greed and general malfeasance that Danson brings to the series with Frobisher and I am happy that his story isn't quite over yet.
