Title: Suzanne Pleshette, RIP

TV Yank - January 20, 2008 06:02 PM (GMT)
When I was a teenie bopper Suzanne was an up-and-coming stunning, raven-haired actress with an oddly deep voice (that was before the unfortunate trend of American women lowering their voices). More than that, she was a talented actress with a strong, self-assured presence.

I remembered being startled to see her in a supporting role to the annoying Tippy Hedren in THE BIRDS. She surprised me again by appearing on lowly TV, making a dazzling appearance in the premiere episode of THE WILD, WILD WEST. Years later she landed the role of the the wife in the hugely successful BOB NEWHART SHOW.

She kept busy in guest spots on TV and supporting roles in movies, never losing her individuality and always demonstrating the talent she had at the beginning. While not unheralded, she didn't attain the heights I think she deserved.

She duelled with lung cancer a couple years ago. She died of respitory failure at age 70.

Saw this earlier on another forum.

Sad news indeed :(

She always came across as a very classy lady.
