So, the first regular episode, and.....

....a bottle show.

Not that that's a complaint in any way, just a statement of fact. After the premiere, this is exactly the kind of show they needed to do. Not only for budgetary reasons, but it let's us take a look around Atlantis itself, well, a little more than last week anyway.

The story was fairly solid, the characters are growing, and there was more airtime for a few characters that didn't get so much last week. The show looks like it's going to be able to hold onto SG1's quirky humour as well, and there's character development there for Shepherd. There's also growing development in the role that the Elosians will be playing on the series.

The one negative thing I would say about the episode is that the resolution is signposted well in advance.

That's a minor gripe aside however, this was a pretty decent episode, especially for a show still in it's infancy. I actually downloaded this one before 8x03 SG1 this week.

Looks like Friday evenings are going to be pretty interesting for the next few months :)

As you say a decent episode - two things struck me

1) If Dr Rodney McKay becomes any more cowardly he's in danger of becoming Dr Zachary Smith Mk II. :o

2) They're loosing un-replaceable equipment at a fair rate, a malp in ep 1 and now a naqadah generator – echoes of Space 1999 when half of moonbase alpha got destroyed on a weekly basis, only to get rebuilt in time for next weeks episode ?
