Title: 4 x 08, House

You Don't Want to Know
House treats a magician but comes to believe he's faking illness to cover up his own incompetence. Meanwhile, House pits the fellows against each other in his version of an immunity challenge. |
Discuss. :)

I thought this was a terrific episode probably because it actually rose above the puerile idea of stealing Cuddy's thong -- turning that thread into the most dramatic firing of a candidate yet. :o
I guess credit should go to writer Sara Hess (who is no doubt on the picket line) for producing a story that veered in unexpected directions. The script may account for the more vivid-than-usual acting by the remaining candidates -- especially, Kal Penn, the East Indian one, who got to show his acting chops this time.
Steve Valentine made a lively patient. At least until his malady deepened. Except his American accent was pretty bad. No. Wait. He was playing a Brit. ;)

Certainly made me miss Crossing Jordan when I saw him again, I really liked that show. Yank I think you and I are the only ones watching the best show on TV that's a shame don't you think? I just loved how they drugged House so they could run their tests. now that's what House is looking for. I kinda think 13 may have cemented her place there with that move. I think the Bitch is the last to go. You?

I thought the guy looked familiar! I didn't watch CROSSING JORDAN, PW, but I would catch scenes while crossing channels. (No. I'm not going to rephrase that!)
I know that James (Crichton Kicks) is a big fan of HOUSE. He's a prolific downloader, stockpiling many many shows so he may have to catch up with us later.
I agree that 13 looks like a shoe-in. I think you're more right than ever about her being a Cameron clone (she was the one you were thinking of, wasn't it?). The scene when she crowded him had all sorts of suggestions running thru it. I wish she were a better actor. But she' good enuf. Certainly, as good as Morrison.
I kinda expect them to keep the Bitch. That may be wishful thinking on my part. I'm a fan of Anne Dudek. And I like the sparks her character creates. It's good for the show.
But, thinking ahead to Epps' possible departure (a reduced role may annoy more than a regular paycheck soothes) -- they would need an affirmative action replacement. So either the East Indian stays. Or Big Love returns -- I keep thinking that he was too good a character to be let go -- so I wonder.... :ponder:
BTW, a website called HouseIsRight.com calls the candidates "doclings"... well I liked it... :snooty:

I`m desperately waiting for the show to return to Channel Five over here. I`m guessing at February.
Powdered Water - November 23, 2007 03:38 PM (GMT)
Yeah she was the Cameron clone I was referring to but upon further review I think she may be a little hotter than Cameron. So it's all good as far as I'm concerned.
You may enjoy Crossing Jordan if you get a chance to catch it someday. I got hooked on it when I started looking for another forensics type show and I just couldn't handle David (my futures so bright I gotta wear shades) Caruso on CSI Miami, still don't watch that show to this day. Miguel Ferrer is very good as Dr. Macy and I've always had a thing for Jill Hennesey who was Jordan. It's a nice mix of medical and forensics, I enjoyed it.
I can't believe House isn't on overseas, he's British after all, I'd think that the powers that be would want to get in on that somehow.

They tend to wait to have enough episodes to show one every week without interruption . :)
Although SKY now show Prison Break within a few days and had to take a break recently, plus I think that the last season of 24 had a break in it over here.

In this episode in particular, Olivia Wilde really struck me as very pretty and sexy. So, I'm not gonna mind her inclusion.
Besides, I'm less happy with Jennifer's (natural) blonde look -- tho it's not as bad as I expected.

I know what you mean about Caruso. :p
I was really imprseed with Miguel Ferrer in the couple of BIONIC WOMAN episodes I saw lately. He's turned into a darn good actor.
Did you see Jill Hennessey and her twin sister in their bit part in the movie DEAD RINGERS?

One of the reasons that so few have posted here is that many are waiting for the UK airing of the show. That seems to usually start around January.

Silly little Brits, I wonder If they could call up Dish Network and have a satellite delivered aren't those things supposed to work anywhere?

Only if we can change the curvature of the Earth first to get the signal from the US.
Although I wonder if a Slingbox was hooked up to a US TV , would a PC here be able to access it ?

:ermm: not a bad episode but firing cole just because he made a deal with cuddy (he did nominate cutthroat bitch, lucky escape this time)
foreman telling the candidates that what he had to do to get in the team
house finally getting some info about 13 problem and being told off
the patient was interesting but i was expecting for something else than just a blood mistake
Bill The Bloodless - May 9, 2008 12:43 PM (GMT)
That he'd made the deal with Cuddy was a big no no, Cole made a mistake and paid the price.
It would have been a twist if that even after he'd been cured he still would have died.
little pixie - May 9, 2008 01:27 PM (GMT)
Thought this was a great episode.
I loved the scene where House throws his pill bottle on the floor to get Cuddy to bend over - I don`t know how they managed to keep straight faces whilst filming it.
Steve Valentine ranks as one of my favourite patients now. I thought he sparkled in the role. Nice to see Hugh Laurie getting the chance to do a little card trick, too.
It was a real shock when Big Love got fired; I hadn`t expected that twist at all. :o
I`m missing Chase. :(
And how boring is Foreman ??
Bill The Bloodless - May 9, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
There isn't much for Foreman to do atm, I guess there'll be an ep that'll centre on him soon.
No Cameron either this week. :(
Can't help thinking that it's only a matter of time before the newbies all get fired or quit (3 or 4 weeks I suppose) and he takes the others back.

prophecy girl - May 9, 2008 02:52 PM (GMT)
it was interesting to see how the candidates reacted when cole won: we got bitchy (nothing new), playing the friendly card, bribery and 13 going for honesty and saying that she know cole was going to be fair (or she thought)

It could work, but I find their characters quite similar. I sometimes hear 13 say something, and think That`s a Cameron thing to say. :ponder:
prophecy girl - May 12, 2008 06:19 PM (GMT)
not sure but did 13 ever went to talk to cameron or did the writer thought everyone would notice the obvious similarity if there were in the same scene?
TV Yank - May 12, 2008 06:58 PM (GMT)
*** SPOILERY ***
I'm further into the season and I can say that there has been some, but very limited interaction between the two.
1) I don't think that 13 is as morally driven as Cameron. In personality, 13 is more involved with the case, less whiny.
2) The similarities are due more to the writers' inabilities to find 13's distinguishing characteristics so they fall into the trap of writing a certain type of dialog for the woman.
