Anything was going to be better than the last episode.
Anything without the Hondurans was going to be an improvement.
Anything that brought an end to Hiro's "adventures" in 1600s Japan was going to be welcomed.
But, I was still reminded of themes from last season. Claire's distrust of her dad... again. What did the producers/writers do? Did they get together and list the elements of Season 1 that they thought worked -- then reuse them -- thinking we wouldn't notice?
Anyway -- West's discovery that Claire's father is his HRG guy should spark something (please!).
I thought the battle with Maury was fairly good. I liked Greg Grunberg in particular as the desperate surrogate father protecting the little girl. (I can't seem to remember how Molly was introduced into the story. ) Nice to see Molly awake. Hopefully, she plays a bigger part in Matt's life -- but I doubt it.
Nathan's role is coming to life. And, as little as I liked the Kensei story, I can't say I was disappointed to see David Anders appear again as it hinted at an interesting backstory (Kensei's been alive since the 1600s?).
But where's Kristen Bell, dammit...
I'm also more than a little ticked that apparently now in the 8th episode we finally are going to start finding out what the hell happened to everyone for the last six month's. Did they think that no one from last season was gonna watch this season or something? I have a feeling this show is going down the sophomore tubes and may not recover. They've already canceled the proposed Origins spin off, I hope that isn't a harbinger of things to come.
Oh have they cancelled Origins? rats
I was pleased that something finally happened - more than in the last 6 eps I think!
Molly was first introduced as the child Matt found with his powers hiding in the cupboard under the stairs when Sylar had killed her parents - then later Mohinder is introduced to her to help find a cure for her. The "parenting" of her must have occured in the missing time period.
I suspected Kensei might turn out to be Adam - after all - if he can't be killed? I suspect he isn't telling Peter the whole truth though? has he set him up.
the season is finally improving with dramatic twists
hiro in the past plot is finally concluded and now on the path to avenge his father's death (a bit too dark  )
it was a great twist to have kensei arriving in the present and having him as the villain of Adam, who is now joining force with Peter
the virus is an interesting plot development, probably what the serie needed.
