I tried a demo which I realised aferwards probably needs 1GB but I only have 512MB. This seems to have messed up anything system intensive eg Oblivion.

Is there any way to restore my system without doing a reinstall from boot(which I have never done before) or do I need to restore to factory settings to override the computer from doing constant reboots.

Quick update. I tried basic reinstall but this did not help as it left all my corrupted files in place so I went through advanced options to do a scary sounding 'destructive reinstall'. This vulcan death grip seems to put everything back to factory conditions so that seems best.

I am still having a bit of trouble with AOL broadband but it seems to working now.

I spoke too soon as it seems to be completely broken. Anything system intensive causes a reboot and then it says it has a serious error. sk
