To be fair, it's hard to see it being any worse than that Godawful TV series in the 90s !!
Now that was truly awful :(

Glad to say, I never saw it, nothing can surpass the soundtrack album released way back when. It still sends a shiver down my spine. My parents used to play it for me, and you wonder why I have issues
Crichton Kicks - May 4, 2004 10:35 PM (GMT)
The original's still the best :)
I think the poster for the original is still one of the archetypal images of movies from that period.
Persephone - May 4, 2004 10:40 PM (GMT)
I must agree. Back to the new one, Tom Cuise is a weird choice though
Crichton Kicks - May 4, 2004 10:46 PM (GMT)
The way he was nattering away to Peter Jackson at the Academy Awards I thought he was angling for a part in King Kong, but Jack Black and Adrien Brodie got the parts in that.
Tom Cruise, agreed, odd choice. The only character from the original who you could assume he'd play would be well out of sorts for him.
Although this is the updated version, hence the good ol' USAF will no doubt get to kick some alien butt and Tom'll be reliving his younger days as Maverick in Top Gun ;)
"Yeah, it's like Top Gun meets ID4, yeah....." :D :D :D
Persephone - May 4, 2004 10:59 PM (GMT)
I think I'm probably the only woman in the world that hated Top Gun, :D
I liked him in Minority Report, but I'm a sucker for anything remotely linked to Phillip K Dick :D
Crichton Kicks - May 4, 2004 11:16 PM (GMT)
^^ <gasp !!>
Even Paycheck ??
Surely not :)
Now you see, I loved Top Gun, only I have this mate, who's living this kind of 80's fantasy that he's Tom Cruise's stunt double from that movie. Well, he must be, every time we're out, it's the same, white t-shirt, jeans, leather jacket, I swear to God, people probably think he's batting for the other side ;) Not a god thing when I'm with him :(

Haven't seen Paycheck, I take it it's crap then  Okay, I read a lot of Phillip K Dick, better?
Re: your mate, are you sure it's not a James Dean thing
You're lucky you have 'normal' looking mates, all mine look like rejects from the addams family  even my nephews, they have dreads and facial piercings
Crichton Kicks - May 4, 2004 11:48 PM (GMT)
James Dean ?? Hmmm, it's pure coincidence, but maybe.....It's definitely the Top Gun thing, we've had the discussion many times; "This isn't the 80s mate, move on, get some new threads and for God's sake lose the F16 fighter patches on yer jacket !!" :D :D
Actually, he looks more like Didier Deschamps, the ex-French international footballer, not that that's anything to brag about :)
Addams Family ?? I'm sure that's harsh, please tell me that's harsh......
Persephone - May 4, 2004 11:55 PM (GMT)
Not harsh enough. Some of the people I've known are a total disgrace
Crichton Kicks - May 4, 2004 11:59 PM (GMT)
To be fair, I heard a rumour a while back that Bryan Singer and Co were seriously considering filming X-Men 3 on location in Stoke. Something about the abundance of local talent and no need for extensive prosphetic makeup :P
Honestly, some days it's just like Mutantville !!! :D :D :D
Persephone - May 5, 2004 12:03 AM (GMT)
Are you in Stoke?
I nearly moved there with the family last there.
Crichton Kicks - May 5, 2004 12:13 AM (GMT)
Just outside Stoke, about 5 miles, a little place called Blythe Bridge. It's not that bad really, probably the same as most other places, but you know what it's like, the sun comes out and then so do the mutants ;)
Persephone - May 5, 2004 12:15 AM (GMT)
I'm about 2 miles outside Stourbridge, we have all the babygoths
Crichton Kicks - May 5, 2004 12:20 AM (GMT)
LOL,
Ah, so that's where they all reside ;)
Persephone - May 5, 2004 12:24 AM (GMT)
They're everywhere.
Crichton Kicks - May 5, 2004 12:27 AM (GMT)
You can keep the goths then, and we'll stick with the mutants over here.
At least we have them all concentrated in one place ;)
Do you think we could instigate somekind of exchange program ?? :)
Persephone - May 5, 2004 12:30 AM (GMT)
I'm pretty sure they're one and the same.
Crichton Kicks - May 5, 2004 12:35 AM (GMT)
Mutated Goths ?? I guess they are actually, all card-carrying members of the Freaky Weirdo League ;)
