Awesome new show| QUOTE |
One half hour from now, one man will discover a gateway between worlds and a conspiracy that will destroy mankind. Everything he knows is about to disappear, everything he believes is about to change… Charlie Jade, a brand new science fiction drama gets its British premiere on FX, Friday nights at 8pm from October the 5th. Vexcor Technologies has just made a breakthrough unlike any in human history. They have not only found a parallel dimension, but they have worked out a way to exploit its untapped natural resources to stave off the meltdown of their own diseased world. While working on the disappearance of a young woman, small time private detective Charlie Jade stumbles onto the Vexcor conspiracy that not only threatens to envelop his own world, but two others besides |

It is a very promising show and I can't wait to see the next episode, cancelled after a season but still looking for a home to continue so there is hope.
Watch

Did you watch the first episode on the DVD that came with this months SFX? I liked it, one of my housemates was not sure but she never likes anything anyway

Yes, thought it was a bit scapish and I could see bits of Bladerunner, incredible potential

I would have to agree with you Alex it did look a lot like Bladerunner to me as well. The use of colour was interesting lot of green but did job of unsettling me making I'm looking at very different world but at same time without going on board on sets etc.
As for the episode itself it didn't have me on the edge of my seat but that is me being slightly over critical as the plot is complex one so it needed the pilot to introduce us to Charlie's world etc. I really like it's themes and ideas so far looking forward to next week's episode! :)

Kinda how I felt about it. :ponder:
I didn't like the voice over and some of the acting was pretty ropey but I still intrigued by the story and I wanted to know where it's going. Will give the 2nd episode a look. :)

I really liked the first episode and found it very intriguing. I can't wait to see how the story develops over the season because it seems like an extremely promising show. I loved the moody Blade runner-esque look to the show and the use of colour tints to easily define which alternate universe you are in. The only niggle I have so far and this is a tiny one, is sometimes I don't catch what the minor characters are saying because their South African accents are so thick.

You're right it does have a really good feel to it. I have also had the feeling that this could be a hidden gem for quite a while, since I started seeing the teaser trailers for this on FX over the last couple of months.
Not long now until the next episode ...oh & btw there's a behind the scenes programme about Charlie Jade right before tonight's episode at half past seven. :)

Enjoyed last nights episode even though it was slower paced.

No problem. I haven't seen the behind the scenes show yet but I have seen the episode, which I really enjoyed as well. I can't say I noticed the pacing was slow I was that wrapped up in it. :)

I've watched the first 2 episodes now and, I have to say, I'm undecided whether to watch the third  It's not unlike me to give up on a show but I was almost tempted in the first episode <_<
I just don't get it. And I can't follow it  I haven't got any idea who any of the characters are (apart from Charlie, but if if his name wasn't the title, I'm not sure I'd remember that either  ) Or what's going on
Maybe it's because I'm not much of a sci-fi fan and this is a more sci-fi show so I don't get it as much but I don't think I'll be sticking with it
little pixie - October 17, 2007 06:31 PM (GMT)
I thought the second ep was a vast improvement on the first one. :ponder:
Thought there were a couple of touching moments, like the Charlie/Jasmine thing, so shall stick it out for a few more eps.
I do find the actor playing Charlie Jade a bit bland, though.

Wow. I am now seriously addicted to this show, I don't think I can wait a week for the next episode :ph43r:
I love the settings, it is really refreshing to see somewhere other than Canada or Canada trying to be America  love the urban feel with little futuristic twists. The different tints really give it an interesting feel, I'm looking forward to seeing more of the other Verses.
Boxer is a great villain, insane evil playful, it could be Scorpy  come to think of it Charlie could be Crichton although more of a season 4 than season 1 as he has already seen and done too much by the look of him. I like his new "partner" as it were as he gives the audience a different perspective.
Poor Charlie, now his parallel girlfriend is showing an interest? how confusing, he couldn't really start another relationship - although it depends on whether or not he can get back.
Absolutely loving it
Outta Sight - October 21, 2007 06:42 PM (GMT)
Oh, damn you all
I'm getting so much stuff stored up on my Sky+ plus trying to watch dvds as well that I made the decision to delete the 3rd episode and give up on it. Now, I'm having second thoughts

 sorry but I think you should record it again
star_fury - October 26, 2007 11:52 PM (GMT)
I'm really loving this show and I'm finding it refreshing how unpredictable each episode is. Charlie Jade himself is unlike any sci-fi series character I can think of.
I love how Charlie takes everything in his stride knowing so much while his partner, if we can call him that, is constantly being amazed by how deep the conspiracy goes and how much prove he's a obtaining. btw how cool was it when he jumps out of the army truck to escape!
I really liked the paranoid isolation that is going on when we follow the girl from the Gammaverse just trying to survive in this harsh world unlike her own. She's pretty damn tough and it's surprising she's managed to last this long without getting caught. I suppose she got captured by Vex corp just before the police arrived. I wonder what they'll do with her?
They are really laying out lots of story threads, still following things in the Alphaverse with Charlie's girlfriend. All the while her Betaverse self is getting closer with Charlie. This is going to get messy. Do you get the impression that guy in the Alphaverse was her pimp before she met Charlie?
Anyway lots to like and lots to more to look forward to. It's a pity they don't show Charlie Jade in feature-length episodes letting us see two episodes a week. I think this is a show that's going to have a lot of re watch value as you pickup on things you missed first time round.
btw cool CJ avatar :)

From what I read it did exceptionally well on the Canadian channel called Space and was expected to be picked up for a second-season. I think the only reason it didn't was because it didn't get picked up in the US and quite possibly over here in the UK. I have to agree that we can only hope it's successful over here and in the States, which judging on the quality so far it should do well once it finds a home.
Second season or not I think this is going to be one of those wonderful short-lived shows. That while you wish there were more, you're just glad they (at least) made as many as they did.
At least there's going to be a DVD release coming at the end of the year!

:ponder: a good first episode but i think the all parallels world is going to be a lot more complicated than the first episode seem to show, i still like that charlie jade is not the typical heroe (he is a distant guy with his own problem)
the first episode seems to be making way for some interesting worlds and questions that will be answered only by going through the parallel worlds and learning about who exploit who
