Listening To Fear, I always thought, was merely a part 2 to Shadow but it definitely is a bit more interesting as there is some element of real threat amidst all the story exposition.

Willow's present buying is a hoot. The beer hat is great fun. I am not sure whether Joyce is endowed with a sense of humour or if it has been established previously but I feel it was a bit lost on her.

I love how Listening To Fear dovetails classic Buffy soap opera with the supernatural peril. Joyce is clearly demonstrating Glory victim like symptoms so she becomes a target for the Queller demon. It all feels naturally developed which makes it quite engaging.

Buffy's and Dawn's feelings of despair and helplessness are convincing but I doubt they would have made the decision to take Joyce home. If someone is clearly not in control of themselves they need to be in a safe environment. I suppose Joyce's feelings come into play a little bit but weighed against the possibility of burning the house down the decision feels like a convenient plot device. Whereas Dawn wants to muffle the distressing sounds Buffy shows she is a little older with her despair at the kitchen sink ie kitchen sink drama.

Spike's brief appearance reminded me what fun was to be had from his infatuation in S5.

Riley's peculiar behaviour is almost like self-harming and there was a Wrecked like hint of drug abuse in the way he has offered his arm to the vampire. I have not made my mind up about Riley's psychology so I am not sure about which way to interpret.

Probably only a 5/10 but a little higher on the totem pole than Shadow. sk

:ermm: the episode were we learn that Ben is aware of glory and he would do anything to clean up after her (is that the best he can do? kill the victims of glory :ponder: :ermm: or was it just to mislead everyone about him? )

this episode feel a bit like Buffy meets X-Files ? Makes you wonder if any other demonic stuff is happening on the moon. love giles about the snutt monster from space and back pedalling goes all watcher about there is many way to come to earth and this one find his way via the sky  ; of course riley calling the old friends bring a bit more of that idea, keep the civilians away, he is back to his early season four military way. It's a wonder buffy didn't even ask for an explanation after checking on her mother and sister (must have hurt his ego
:ermm: )

the queller demon is a bit scary but make up a bit lame

a strong scene being buffy breaking down over the washing up: Compared to seeing her mother losing her mind, demons and vampires must seem like nothing.

willow and her presents :lmao: a bit too happy to try ease the tension i suppose (but really a history book and a yoyo :lmao: )
