Anyone going to be watching this on Living this Thursday @ 9:00pm ?

Sex in The City meets Northern Exposure apparently   well I used to really like Northern Exposure so I'm planning on giving it a try.

I downloaded this as it aired, but never got around to watching it. Must admit, I really got it for Vic, but I think I'll give it a try myself

Nope, but I`ll be watching the Friday 8pm repeat. ;)

EDIT - Which doesn`t come up in my SKY planner.

i downloaded two episodes, quite good :)

Ended up watching it last night, spoilers for ep. 1 follow. :)

Well, I didn`t love it, but I really liked it. With so many pilots these days, I`ve learned to stick with something for a few eps to see how it develops, but I`d be happy to watch the next ep. without those reservations.

The pilot seemed really expositional to me - one of those eps where it`s all about setting up the series . I loved the look of the show, but then I loved Northern Exposure - it`s nice to see a show which isn`t set in Generic Backlot Land ™.

Laughed my socks off at the bit where Marin is smoking on the thin ice and thingy ( ) shouts Stop ! at her.

Fangy and grrr - September 9, 2007 01:53 PM (GMT)
I thought the first episode was ok, not great but good enough for me to watch the second episode.

I quite liked Marin but while it was quite funny everyone quoting back to her her own advice in this episode if there's too much of that relationship/therapy talk ( and it is what she does ) it would really put me off. Didn't like the voiceover at the end for example. Still I'll give it a go and it is nice to have something a little different. :)

Outta Sight - September 11, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
I was looking forward to this one with one exception...Anne Heche. I've never liked her and I thought her starring in the show might spoil it for me but I was pleasantly surprised  She didn't set my teeth on edge  and I actually quite like her character.

Of course, the presence of James Tupper more than makes up for her

Like the rest of you, I love Northern Exposure and am prone to enjoy anything Alaskan set

I'll certainly be sticking with it for a while :)

little pixie - September 11, 2007 01:39 PM (GMT)
It`s been a while since 3 people have been interested in a particular new show.

SPOILERS for Ep. 2 follow.....

Really enjoyed this ep - I laughed my socks off at the hairdryer/blackout bit. :lmao:

Some bits were a bit obvious and corny, but the good bits made up for it ( ie, Bartender Man and the truck`s wing mirror, and the arrival of Cynthia Stevenson. )

I`m with Tom regarding the voiceover - it`s unnecessary and reminds me a bit of Carrie on SITC, though not as well done. :ponder:

Fangy and grrr - September 21, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
Just watched episode 2 and again it was ok I've got the 3rd episode recorded but at the moment I'm not sure I'm going to stick with it.

Really nice to see Cynthia Stevenson as I always thought she was one of the best things about Dead Like Me :) but again that voice over doesn't work for me.

little pixie - September 21, 2007 07:51 PM (GMT)
I`ve seen up to ep. 3 now. I`m still liking it, shall stick with it. :)

Plus, there`s nothing else on in that timeslot. :ph43r:

Outta Sight - October 4, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
I'm definitely sticking with it

Love the Alaska setting  Love James Tupper (Jack) Love the Patrick and Annie relationship

It may not be intellectually challenging but, hey, who wants that all the time? This is just damn good fun

Ended up loving this.

Men in Trees Is Back!
- In the US.  ;)

Tonight we reunite with Marin Frist, her friends and the quaint little town of Elmo, Alaska, as Men in Trees returns for 11 new episodes.

This move to Wednesdays marks the fifth time-slot change in about a year, but creator Jenny Bicks is excited about this latest shuffle. “[It is] certainly a better place to be than Fridays! There are people who want to find the show again. Hopefully they will.”

Here's a little dish on what our Elmo pals will be up to during the next few months...

Spoilers !!!

Jack:  Marin’s main man is still lost at sea, but die-hard fans (and celeb-romance followers) know James Tupper couldn’t possibly be a show casualty. “I have found that people are very upset when Jack and Marin aren’t together,” says series star Anne Heche. “It’s a credit to the writing. Everyone asks all the time. I love that people are so invested.” According to Bicks, Jack will be doing a lot of growing, overcoming his fear of relationships and the emotional scars he acquired with past love Lynn (Justine Bateman).

Patrick & Annie:  Still suffering from amnesia, Patrick explores who he is away from Annie, and it tears the couple apart. His journey to find himself takes him to New York, where he works for Jane. Meanwhile, Annie moves in another direction...with Ivan, the hot Croatian hockey player!

Buzz & Mai:  Buzz's growing gambling problem makes for a marriage in crisis. Mai will move in with—who else?—Celia! The unwelcome houseguest drives Patrick’s poor madre bananas and, consequently, closer to her supervisor squeeze.

Ben & Theresa:  It‘s babymaking time, but the couple encounter various complications. The hockey team—Ben's dream come true—is one of ‘em, as he spends a little too much time with the players.

Sara & Pastor Eric:  Their relationship continues to grow, though that pesky celibacy vow is still getting in the way. Thoughts of marriage will arise, though Sara is uncomfortable with the idea of sealing the deal before, you know, sealing the deal.

Cash:  The sexy nude dude is back in town, but he's certainly not in tiptop shape. The whole town, Marin included, comes together to help him with his health crisis.

Marin:  Our gal will complete her book over the course of these next 11 eps, which begs the question, why stay in Elmo when your initial reason for being there no longer exists?

Look for a guest appearance by Morgan Fairchild (she wants to buy Marin's life rights to play her in a movie!) and the return of Kelli Williams. Yes, Jack’s new friend is coming to Elmo, and we’re not quite sure how Ms. Frist will feel about it.

But don’t fret. Bicks assures us that fans of the show will be pleased with what goes on between Elmo’s favorite twosome this season...

Men in Trees Canceled

Well, this just sucks. My five-day flu fever finally breaks, I get back to the world of the living and I awake to find this?!

Sources inside ABC confirm that the wonderful world of Elmo so many of us have come to whole-heartedly adore is no more. Men in Trees will not be coming back next season. And I think I feel sick again.

I'm told the cast and crew were informed late Friday that the decision had been made. And despite the creative uptick this season and some of the finest and most heartwarming and sincere storylines around, the suits at the Alphabet Net have decided to pull the plug. Word is they haven't been impressed with recent ratings. But you gotta wonder, what would have been if they'd supported Tees all along?

"I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses," Jenny Bicks told my good frenemy Michael Ausiello. "No show could survive that." So, so true.

Obviously, this comes as a huge disappointment to us fans, especially those who spearheaded the philanthropic fanpaign to save the series, Plant It Forward. To date, they have purchased 7,000 food trees for needy families.

The only teeny-tiny sliver of good news? We'll get a real series-ender, thanks to Bicks' team plotting out an alternate season finale, in the off chance they were canceled. Maybe a double wedding for Marin and Jack and Patrick and Annie? Hey, a girl can dream...
