Aren't they running re-runs until October when they will carry on with series one? Or is that in the US?

Edit: it must be the the US. If you are unsure of this pixie, give it a go. I have seen what has gone out in the US and I am hooked.

I didn`t realise there was already a thread for this.

Thanks for the clicky. :D

Shall watch it, `cos The Avengers seems to have finished now in that time slot. :)

I liked this series, sure it is 'Angel Lite' but enjoyable

And Henry is cute

Watch it if you can

little pixie - August 21, 2007 01:09 PM (GMT)
I really quite enjoyed the first ep - I`m a big fan of shows which use real places rather than sound stages to shoot on, and this one seemed to have plenty of that ( or it was cleverly done ). :)

Thought it was full of good actors who I`d not seen before.

Outta Sight - August 21, 2007 06:51 PM (GMT)
I liked the first episode too  Kyle Schmidt is yummy  I first saw him in Beautiful People where he was more wholesome but I love this dark, sexy, side   And Christina Cox is very good as well as is Dylan Neal (haven't seen much of him since Dawson's Creek  )

Looking forward to future episodes

Psycho Jack - August 22, 2007 10:00 AM (GMT)
I've watched the first three episodes for this, and even though its not bad, I'm just not feeling it...

I might watch the fourth and see.

Darris - August 23, 2007 04:44 PM (GMT)
I have seen the the first half of season one, and I am hooked. October can't come quick enough. Has nothing to do with Kyle's character you understand... :whistling:

I am just reading Blood Price by Tanya Huff which is where the story came from. She even posts a blog on the Lifetime website to accompany the episodes.

In case you're interested: http://lifetimetv.typepad.com/bloodblog/ BE WARNED though, it will have spoilers for upcoming episodes if you are just tuning in.

I didn't this show existed until about an hour ago  when I logged onto amazon it was one their recommendation so I clicked the link and it sounds like something I'd like. Does anyone know if they are planning a second season? Is it worth buying the DVD box set or should I wait to see they repeat it at some point. :ponder:

prophecy girl - January 16, 2008 10:01 AM (GMT)
just checked amazon and it look like they merge season one and two together  (12 episodes in the first season shown in the first semester of 2007 and 10 episodes showed from october 2007)

Looks like you`re in luck.

Darris - January 17, 2008 12:51 AM (GMT)
I have become somewhat a Blood Ties obsessive. We don't know if a second series will happen yet. The dvd boxset of all series one is out on the 25th of January and is about £30.

As soon as any infor regarding the show continuation of the show is released I will post it up. Basically the people who make the show and the cast are good to go, the sets were not dismantled at the end of filming, they are just trying to get an American Network to come up with the funding.

And I wouldn't use the episode Bad Juju as a reflection of the rest of the season, that is probably one of my least favourite episodes. Just my opinion though. :)

They didn't merge the show together, Lifetime split the first season up into two seasons for some reason?

prophecy girl - January 17, 2008 10:43 AM (GMT)
like a majority of the shows, they are probably waiting for the end of the writers strike :ermm:

1.5 episode: love hurt was an ok episode, an interesting development when the demon of the week go after Henry :ponder:

buffy_fan1 - January 17, 2008 01:31 PM (GMT)
Thanks to Sarah you're right for once I'm in luck Darris thanks for more information about the show it's good they may still a second series as most of favourite show have been cancelled now :( so I could use a show to obesess about. I will definitely watched on Sunday but I can't decide whether just to take a gamble and buy the box set anyway as I after what I've read I can't see me not liking it. :ponder:

For anyone else who is interested you can pre-order at amazon.co.uk for £25.98

little pixie - January 17, 2008 03:33 PM (GMT)
Joe, there are some clips from the show on YouTube. :)

Darris - January 17, 2008 06:33 PM (GMT)
I have pre-ordered mine from play.com, Amazon have dropped the price once already and Play seem to be matching them.

The show is Canadian and I don't think the Canadian writers are in the American writers guild so if they did get the go ahead to make another series I don't think they would be striking, although Tanya Huff the author of the books the series has been taken from did come out in sympathy and went striking with them.

This is a blog Tanya Huff did about each episode, I found it quite interesting to hear her take on each episode. She hasn't reviewed the last two though as they were broadcast online only.

Could Blood Ties Come Back?!

Fans, your voices have been heard!

When I posted our TV Throwdown, I asked you guys to email me if a show you loved was missing from the list. Fans of Lifetime's canceled vampire drama, Blood Ties, responded in droves.

If you haven't been watching, here's how fan Tami Z. describes it: "Blood Ties should be on the list of best shows of 2007! It's a great drama about a take-charge woman P.I. that teams up with a sexy vampire to solve 'strange' cases, which also tend to involve her ex-partner/lover cop. The great chemistry among the three main actors (Christina Cox, Kyle Schmid and Dylan Neal) combine with the witty one-liners to make this show completely addicting. You can watch the past 22 episodes on Lifetime's Website. It's a crime drama you can really sink your teeth into! (Pun totally intended.)"

Not that I don't love any show that generates bad puns, but since Blood had been booted from the airwaves, as a dead show it was disqualified from the poll...right?

Not so fast! Because so many of you were so passionate about this series, I did some digging (I've learned never to underestimate a rabid fanbase), and lo and behold, there is hope!

According to Blood Ties executive producer Randy Zalken, even though the show is off the air in the States, all is not lost. When asked about possibly getting the show back into production, he says, "We're hopeful." Why? Because of fans like you. According to Zalken, "We're very happy with the support of the online fans," and he thinks the built-in audience is strong enough to attract new backers to the show.

So, here's the sitch:

Who Can Bring It Back:
The series is Canadian, and according to Zalken, "Some of the Canadian broadcasters have said, 'Yeah, we're interested in it; let us know what and when and how.' We're also hopeful that a new home in the U.S. will present itself." The series would likely need financing from both a Canadian and an American network if it were to pull off a second season. Sci Fi? SoapNet? Starz? Which nets do you think should take a look?

Why It Stands Out During the Strike: According to Zalken, "I don't think the strike is going to hurt us, because Canadian writers are not hindered by the U.S. guild rules. So, we can be delivering new shows for the fall... I guess that's more than a lot of producers are saying now." That's good news for fans and Blood Ties staffers, but it's probably less exciting for our local American writer pals, as it could alleviate some of the pressure they're attempting to put on American conglomutainment outlets.

What's at the Ready: Should a vampire-friendly guardian angel with deep pockets happen to fall out of the sky tomorrow, the show could resume production relatively quickly, says Zalken. "The sets are still available—they've not been destroyed—our talent is very eager to come back, and our show runner, Peter Mohan, is standing by."

That article does give out some hope. However one of the script writers has put a script for the pilot episode with her notes on ebay which she did for continuity. She even got permission to do so by Peter Mohan who is the director.

There is still hope though, there are plenty of fans campaigning to save the show. There is also a Blood Ties Games out and they have just put out a batch of new covers for the books with Christina Cox, Dyaln Neal and Kyle Schmid on. It seems odd to do something like that if a show was about to get cancelled.

On the up side, I got my Blood Ties dvds today! Hopefully, a season 2 will join it in the near future.

<< Keeps fingers crossed >> :)

melian - January 29, 2008 01:31 PM (GMT)
I've been really tempted by the DVD, maybe next month???

Darris - January 29, 2008 07:38 PM (GMT)
The dvd's are pretty basic, there are no extras, nice titles though. The guy who put them together has posted on the bloodlines forum to explain why, he didn't have much time to get the dvd set together for a UK release. Still its better than no dvd set at all. A US release has been set for summer, perhaps they will get some extras on there editions?

prophecy girl - January 30, 2008 10:34 AM (GMT)
:ermm: i am going to wait and see what it's in the US version of the DVD before ordering

I hope there is going to be a second season (fingers crossed)

Darris - January 30, 2008 10:37 PM (GMT)
Well sales are going well in the UK, the guy who put them together wasn't allowed to tell us that much but he did say that Blood Ties was third on the best sellers list for TV shows this week coming after The Shield and My Name Is Earl. Hopefully that will pursuade potential buyers of the program that it has a good european market.

Darris - February 15, 2008 12:45 AM (GMT)
To help with the Blood Ties cause there is a game out online, you can download a trial version which gives you an hours play, the people behind the scenes think it might help bring a new season. And if not its a good way to waste an hour!

Its a find the object type of game, I have got 3 free trials so far from various websites, just as I had run out of time and still not found certain items!

Angelina in Washington, D.C.: Any new news or rumblings from the powers that be on the status of Blood Ties?

I'm told producers remain "cautiously optimistic" and are hoping to have news for all y'all by March—which would still allow for new episodes by fall '08.

E! :)

Darris - March 14, 2008 10:47 PM (GMT)
The people who play Henry and Mike mentioned at Megacon that they have recorded commentaries for the US versions of the dvds, there will also be other extras on there like outtakes.

A few of us on the Blood Ties board are suddenly able to see a webchat Kyle (Henry) and Christina (Vicki) did a while ago on the Lifetime website, until now its been geolocked and only US users have been able to watch them.
