Finally, some good news for Joss Whedon fans who are sick of hearing about him only doing comic books or discussing superhero films that won't be made anytime soon.
At this past weekend's Comic Con, Joss Whedon revealed to Dread Central that he's working with the BBC in the UK to finally bring "Ripper" to the small screen.
The oft-delayed "Buffy" spinoff that would follow the adventures of her mentor, Giles (Anthony Steward Head, pictured), when he returns to England after helping her one final time.
He also revealed that "Cabin in the Woods," a horror movie he co-wrote with former "Buffy" penner Drew Goodard is in the works. |

This is great I now have seen this story in two places so it would seem it's more then a rumour. I still won't let myself believe it untill it's been made I wonder who will be join Tony as part of the cast? I would be surprised if many of the Buffy regulars joined but who knows. :ponder:

I would guess it would be a British cast. I hope it is less camp than Doctor Who. I also hope Joss injects an element of cool via the script perhaps rendering it a transatlantic enterprise.

I really hope Robin Sachs is part of the cast! Of all the regulars I think Nick Brendon would be the most likely to appear if any. He is such a fan of Joss and I'm sure he would be keen to get back in the Buffyverse. :ponder:

And he's the one most in need of a job....!
Not sure that any of the others would sign up full time....but I can think of one or two who would probably be open to occasional appearances....in between filming their other show ;)

I would definitely think it's going to be a mostly British cast and I too hope that we get better actors/actresses than Dr Who/Torchwood. It would be great if they could get lots of Buffy regulars guest starring too.

I would love this but I won't be holding my breath.
What I would be curious about is when it would be set, Ripper ( and I still hate that as a title  so I hope they change that ) made sense to me when it was going to be set when Giles returns home to the UK during S6 Buffy and where he's lonely and looking for a new purpose in his life but I don't see how it would work post S7 when he's invovled in running an international army of slayers. :ponder:
Still from a BBC point of view I guess ASH is a lot better known as an actor ( and not just 'that bloke off Buffy' ) and therefore they might be more likely to fund a drama with him in the lead.
