Description: Well Webisodes!

I snurched this from another board, hope they don't mind :shifty: :whistling:

"Rockne said that there definitely will be more Farscape and added that Brian Henson wants to take it to the big screen. He also mentioned that if Serenity is doing good, it would definitely pave the way for Farscape to go to the big screen. If Serenity does not do good it does not mean that Farscape is done, it just will be different for Brian to convince his investors. Currently, nothing is in plans, but there definitely will be more Farscape. He also encouraged our efforts to push Serenity since it's definitely the right way to go if we want more Farscape. It was very rewarding to hear what we have been saying since the last few months come out of Rockne's mouth as well."

But then they spoiled it with...

I guess this means we should support Serenity...ugh

Rockne said that at the Saturn awards, things are looking very positive.

He is also a big fan of Firefly ;)

willowroolz - June 28, 2005 10:03 AM (GMT)
Yup, he'd better be first in the queue to see it then

I guess it depends how they define "doing good" for Serenity :ermm:

laughitupfuzzball - June 28, 2005 10:32 AM (GMT)
I think it would have to be pretty big to make an impact on the fate of other shows.

I'm hoping its going to be

willowroolz - June 28, 2005 10:36 AM (GMT)
Definitely

melian - June 28, 2005 01:47 PM (GMT)
As much as I would like to think that there will be more Farscape I won't get my hopes up yet. PK Wars was more than I could have wished for so I'll continue to be happy with what I've got :D

And everybody should be supporting Serenity anyway

Not necessarily. A Farscape movie would not have a huge budget, and we know FS does reasonably well in DVD sales. Part of the appeal of Serenity is that it's low-budget, and it's not just box office takings which will see the film 'succeed', it'll be DVD sales as well. So if it does reasonably well at the cinema, it'll result in good DVD sales which should make a significant contribution to the profits as well. Farscape will go down the same road should it ever get there - it'll have a small budget but will do very well out of DVD sales.

laughitupfuzzball - June 28, 2005 07:13 PM (GMT)
True, the thing is though Universal have taken a chance with Serenity and good box office sales originally are going to create a buzz that other shows like Farscape could benefit from.

I'm sure that the DVD sales will an impact but I'm really hoping that it wins a larger audience in theatres
:)

And of course we want another two Firefly movies

It's a month old, but thought it could be added to this lovely Rumour Mill. ;)

Here's a report from day 1 of the 'Wonder-Con'...

http://www.movieson-line.ca/movienews_7454.html

Take a look at the last paragraph....

<snip>

The second and last panel I attended Friday was the "Mirrormask DVD panel. Executive Producer Michael R. Polis (with the Jim Henson Company) and Rob Valoy (with Tokyo Pop, an anime/manga producing company) helmed the stage for this panel. At this point, not too much is unknown about the actual film (available on DVD February 14th), so Polis went into more detail about the DVD and the making of the movie. Originally titled "Curse of the Goblin Kingdom (remember, this is the Jim Henson Co., makers of Dark Crystal an Labyrinth), the film, written by Neil Gaiman (who has a couple other movie deals based on some of his graphic novels, like Sandman and Good Omens) and directed by Dave Mckean ("N[eon]"), only cost about 4 million dollars to make in it's 2 month production process. After it launched at Sun dance in January, it was released in London soon after, where the film was shot. Valoy's involvement in the panel was to let us know of the dealings TokyoPop has with the Jim Henson Company. Coming this fall is a story-furthering set of three 160 paged "Labyrinth" graphic novels and an animated "Dark Crystal" series. The biggest news the gentlemen brought to the table was the announcement of a "Dark Crystal" sequel (to be directed by Genndy Tartovski, director of "Star Wars: Clone Wars") to be here sometime in 2008, and the "Farscape" project the Henson Co. is currently w**king on.

Conspiracy nuts... go crazy!

star_fury - March 16, 2006 03:09 PM (GMT)
Let's hope the "Farscape" project comes to fruition sooner rather than later. I suppose the success of Stargate will make a difference as the sooner it's cancelled the sooner Ben Browder will be free to return to the fold! With any luck Stargate only has one more season to go and the news that Battlestar Galactica won't start the third season until October means they lose that ratings boost.

Jeni - March 18, 2006 04:56 AM (GMT)
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this "project" is an animation of Farscape in some form or other.

Hi Willowroolz :) , Yes it's been a very long time since I posted here. I actually lost the forum when I lost all of my book marks on my old PC. :( I was trying for the umpteenth time to find this place when I found a page on the BBC Website listing various cult TV forums after they closed down their own and there was a post with a link here :)

I'd like them to investigate what Chi and Rygel did next. I think the main story reached a pretty decent conclusion so I'm not sure I'd like them to mess with that :ponder:

If it's anything like the BSG webisodes they'll each only be a couple of minutes long, though :ponder:

star_fury - July 16, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)

I'm surprised somebody didn't beat me to posting this information. :o Apparently the US sci-fi Channel have commissioned 10 "live-action" Farscape webisodes. There's no details so far other than the Henson's are involved .

http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=42431

talk about great news! Any new Farscape is great news... It's just a shame that it's only (so far) going to be (probably) short episodes in the Farscape universe instead of full 45 minutes episodes. God knows if we will even see Moya's crew or all new characters? Either way I'm very excited about it .

I can still remember what was happening where I left off.

Refresh my mind again though, what were the names of the Klingon-alike and Yoda II?

I jest of course, or do I.......?

I really need to get around to watching the rest of season 4, not to mention the mini series. I think I'll have them as a lead-in to the new stuff. That sounds like a good idea to me, and it means I don't have to watch anything right now!

The shame, the shame

Crichton Kicks - July 19, 2007 04:16 PM (GMT)
It's that good, I couldn't bear the thought of there being no more, so I've waited until there's the promise of more Farscape before I continue. Yes, yes that's it...... :ph43r:

Farscape star Ben Browder told SCI FI Wire that he looks forward to reprising the role of astronaut John Crichton in a much-talked-about proposed Web revival of his critically acclaimed SF series, which originally aired on SCI FI Channel.

Executive producer Brian Henson and creator Rockne O'Bannon are talking about how to revive Farscape on the Web in a series of 10 webisodes.

"At the moment, that's Rockne and Brian's job, and I'm aware that they're figuring out what they're going to do with it, but I don't know how far along in the process they are," Browder said.

The recently settled writers' strike put a damper on the plans, and Browder said that it's too early to figure out to what extent he would be involved. Browder said that he spoke with Henson about the Web series at last year's Comic-Con International in San Diego.

"They haven't come to me with any specifics yet, and I don't read anything into that," Browder said. "But at Comic-Con, Brian discussed it and said, 'Yeah, we're still figuring it out.' The writers' strike happened immediately after that, ... and a lot of things went on hold, and it will take a little while before a number of things get going again."

Browder was involved in the creation and writing of Farscape early on. "I had the freedom on Farscape, [and] I was in the writing room on a regular basis, virtually all the time when I wasn't on set," Browder said. "And so I had ... as much [input] as I could."
