Bringing the classic series to a new audience.

On the 2 July 2007, 2Entertain will release a special run of eight classic DVD's aimed at bringing classic Doctor Who to a new audience.

For a limited period, the DVD's will be available at a lower price to entice fans of the new series to try some of the Doctor's classic adventures.

The eight specially chosen titles will be:

    * The Five Doctors
    * Genesis of the Daleks
    * Spearhead from Space
    * Earthshock
    * Remembrance of the Daleks
    * The TV Movie
    * The Hand of Fear
    * Revelation of the Daleks

Each DVD is identical to the previously released version, but will come with a specially designed outer cardboard sleeve.

From the beeb site.

A couple of strange things.

"Cardboard sleeves"? I'm having memories of the old WB cases :fear:
And none of the online retailers seem to have a clue and I can't find the new releases listed on any of the usual sites :blink: So, of course, we have no idea as to how "budget" these releases will be :rolleyes:

Actually, these are nothing special - they are identical to the original discs (with the same cover), however they're inside a cardboard slip-case with the new design.

Given how the point has been made to release these so they're more attractive to prospective buyers, I wonder if they're not distributing them to online vendors (since there would be no point), and instead just focussing on having them instore?

There's four there that even I might buy. Three of them I've previously had on VHS but I couldn't be arsed to upgrade as I'm not a big fan of the originals.

Depends on how low the price is.
