The Doctor decides to work at a boarding school, in order to investigate some strange goings on.

Yes, it's a rubbish description, but it's all TV.com had :)

I loved this, I've found the last few episodes not particularly great but this was good. DT's performance as John Smith having to decide between love and being the Doctor was very touching, maybe spoilt a bit by having him become so bubbly towards the end again. And the darkness is back with the Doctor's revenge, I like the "no second chances" Doctor.

I haven't thought much of this season at all but, barring Tennant's insistence on gurning at every given opportunity, I thought this was chuffing brilliant.

I thought it dealt with the emotions of the characters superbly, and I liked the way the Doctor was asked whether or not anyone would have died had he not arbitrarily decided to land in that time and place - talk about a verbal kick in the nads

It was all rather good, and probably ranks as one of the best episodes of tv I've seen this year - one that doesn't involve Heroes' Company Man or the words "The" and "Shield", at least ;)

Ditto.

In fact, Double Ditto.

Very impressed with DT`s performance - I think in the hands of a lesser actor, the crying scene could have come off as eye-rollingly embarrassing - instead it was incredibly touching. :)

Loved the slightly chilling way the Doctor dealt with the Family and the realisation that he was `just being kind ` in running away from the final confrontation. :ponder:

I was blubbing away right at the end when the Doctor and Martha met up with the older Tim again . :tear:

Erm... It didn`t strike me until later, but wasn`t Martha wearing her poppy on the left ( men`s) side or was I imagining it ?

 Excellent as you say :D I felt quite sorry for Martha when questioned what she did  everything it seemed while the Doctor was human. I was very impressed with the revenge the Doctor took :o

Beautiful and moving and without question one of the best episodes of the last three seasons. I thought the acting from DT & JS in particular was excellent, DT can get a bit annoying sometimes but I thought he was pretty perfect here.

Oh and its a bit silly but I did love that the little girl continued to carry around that red balloon with her the whole time. :)

AARRRGGHHHH. SCARECROWS!!!!!

I hate Scarecrows. If they're not of the variety that sing "If I only had a brain" or "We're off to see the Wizard" then I don't wanna know :fear:

I loved this story, it adapted brilliantly from the book, something to do perhaps with the fact that the original author did the screenplay/adaptation?

I knew the whole "Mr Smith" thing would end in tears, just didn't reckon they'd be mine. I got through the book with nary a sob, then seeing DT bringing the character(s) to life really made me well up. It was intense, get gentle, a real emotional conflict. Mr Smith knew what he wanted, but he also knew what he had to do, and either option, once taken, wiped out the other :tear:

A gentle love story, set within a sci-fi/(mild) horror story, on prime time BBC on a Saturday night.

Who'd have thought it possible eh?

It gets a big  from me.

I echo everything that was said here. Really liked it. Best of the series so far.

Liked this one as well, next weeks one also looks interesting, am I right in thinking its the Doctor and Martha lite episode such as Love and Monsters was last series?

prophecy girl - June 9, 2007 02:53 PM (GMT)
quite a good episode :)

mr smith trying to deal with the info that he is not real and then the doctor tricking the family (and blowing up their ship)

 flash of mr smith life

martha taking actions

the realisation that the doctor ran because he wanted to give a chance to the family :o beware of the time lord warth (kind of mean  )

(martha had her poppy on the left side  )

was the watch just to give the doctor his memory back or did he turn back into a time lord (painfully) a the same time?
