Title: Freema Axed?

Don't know how true this is, it is The Sun afterall;

QUOTE
DOCTOR Who actress Freema Agyeman has been axed from the next series, The Sun can reveal.

Pretty Freema, 27, only joined the BBC1 sci-fi hit as the Timelord’s new companion Martha Jones at the beginning of the current series three.

We told how the struggling actress scooped the role after Billie Piper quit. But show chiefs think her performance is not as strong as in her earlier episodes.

And they are planning a storyline where the Doctor, played by David Tennant, will lose her and travel through the universe searching for her.
The decision to dump Freema comes as a bolt from the blue after her performance for the first couple of episodes was praised.

A source said: “Freema is very talented but we don’t think she is just right on Doctor Who. None of this is being done with any malice. Freema’s a lovely girl.”

Freema has previously admitted that she had a tough job to fill Billie’s boots. Billie, who played Rose Tyler, left at the end of the second series.

Christopher Eccleston stunned the BBC by quitting as the Timelord after the first series of the revamped drama in 2005.

Meanwhile current star Tennant is still believed to be making just part of series four, which starts filming in Wales this summer.

A spokeswoman for the show refused to comment.

If it's true I think it's shame I've enjoyed Freema in the role of Martha I know I could be banned from the Doctor Who board for saying this but I think she is much better then Rose just my opinion.

I hope not true but as they say there is no smoke with fire

Not on my watch - Rose is very, very overrated, and Martha much better :)

Mutter, grumble..... Edit button

Actually I find myself agreeing with you both.

The troubling thing is, the Sun do seem to have a fairly reliable source for most of their Doctor Who related stories :ermm:

I do like the sound of this though....

Could be interesting, and possibly what led the Sun to print this article :ponder:

That was my thinking, maybe him losing her will be part of a story arc that will mean her being absent for a while rather than being axed. :ponder:

I hope she hasn't been axed as I agree with what's been said already I think she's been excellent.

Thanks Phillip I was going to use the word overrated myself didn't want upset die hard Rose fans I'm a newbie when it comes to Doctor Who after all :)

It took me a very long time to get used to Rose whereas I found Martha quite a nice character from the offset. It would be a shame if she got axed after only one series. To be honest if anything its the storylines that haven't been as strong as opposed to the companions.

The official Web site of Freema Agyeman, who plays Martha Jones on the third season of the BBC's Doctor Who, shot down rumors that the actress would be leaving the series.

end season one: new doctor

end season two: the assistant is leaving

end season three???? :ponder:

I like them both.

I think the most important thing is that they made Martha a completely different character to Rose which they have.
