In a far-flung galaxy, saboteurs are at work, and crew members are being possessed.
The TARDIS crew find themselves in the 42nd century on a spaceship, SS Pentallian, slowly being pulled into a sun, and must find a way to survive |

42.
Bit disappointed that David Tennant didn`t get to say Dammit, Chloe ! .
Best ep of the season so far, imo.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. Though, not really for the reasons they wanted me to.
I was more intrigued by the "Saxon-ites" with Martha's mother, were they listening in, or actually trying to trace the call?
The main plot was a fun, tense story, filled with all the good stuff that Doctor Who should have.
Loved the Doctor's explaination of a happy prime number

Absolutely, happy prime number and recreational maths made me giggle too  cracking little story :)

quite a good episode, tension and actions
a scared doctor :ponder:
"42 mn before we crash into the sun" wouldn't the ship burn before that? :ponder: so lava in the room that has the tardis but not a burn afterward :o
the return of the interworld/intertime mobile  but look like the saxon goons turn martha mother into a bad guy (even if she seem to denie having voted for mr saxon :ermm: )
the trailer for next week was kinda confusing

The ship did still have heat shields in place, so it wasn't at much risk of burning up, but no amount of heat shielding would have protected it from crashing directly into a Sun.
Yeah, the trailer for next week was (I believe) deliberately confusing. I've read the book that the next story is based on, it's a corker.

The episode reminded me of last seasons Satan Pit complete with the Doctor in an orange space suit .
Loved the "recreational mathematics" comment too and aww to Martha's reaction to getting the TARDIS key. And more Saxon references

You weren't the only one who wondered, my flatmate and I were also wondering why they weren't dead already.

Meh, I found this ep rather boring tbh. I've never really liked the ones where they're stuck on spaceships though. <_<
Bad Wolf - May 22, 2007 10:28 AM (GMT)
This was too much like The End Of The World / The Satan Pit.
I'm tired with all the running around this season tbh. That and DT constant gurning. Maybe Jack will improve things :)

I liked this episode a little nod to 24 (set in 'real time' and 42 is 24 backwards if you hadn't noticed).
Great tension with the Doctor and him trying to control being taken over by host alien. Similarities can be inferred from The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit. But not entirely similar and of course every TV show does from time to time replicate a storyline to some degree, and if your TV show is Charmed possibly nearly every week. Have to say that Doctor Who is one of the most diverse shows on the TV, different location, different characters, different stories and different actors/actresses in the lead roles etc.
Next weeks looks absolutely cracking! I can't wait also Tennant is superb, and I like how the stories are now becoming more and more about The Doctor unlike the first season where it seemed like Rose was the main character and The Doctor was playing second fiddle.
Also I like the Saxon subplot building up and also the fact that really if this Mr. Saxon is prime minister and is sinister its possible that its The Doctors fault for getting rid of Harriet Jones, Prime Minister in The Christmas Invasion.

There has been alot of running around each season, particular notes are season one Rose, 'Run for your life' and season 2 'Tooth and Claw'. Even the best episode last year 'The Girl in The Fireplace' was pretty cardiovascular friendly. Running away has always been an integral part of the storylines as you aren't going to stand and get killed by the monsters and the Doctor doesn't have an offensive weapon to use. With the introduction of Jack though I'm sure we'll see a bit more 'taking the fight to the bad guys'.
Having said that next weeks looks pretty running away free.
