Title: 2x22 All Hell Break's Loose Pt 2

Hmm :ponder:

This was extremely good and a tad disappointing at the same time.

I loved the opening half, with Dean doing what we all (I'm assuming) pretty much guessed he would do. Very poignant, very sad, but I'm sure none of us actually believe it will come to fruition in a year's time ;)

Not sure what the guy's name is, but the one who plays Bobby is an awful actor  When he was chewing Dean out for what he did his performance bordered on hilarious and spoiled what should have been a pretty powerful scene (to wit, later on when Dean revealed to Sam what he'd done - that was a terrific scene).

I enjoyed the whole "opening the gates of hell" scenario BUT I was disappointed that it was all shut down so easily. And I was extremely disappointed that Dean killed ol' Yellow Eyes. It was surprising - which is good - but I was really looking forward to the big war with him leading the "army of darkness". I can only assume that they have a bigger, better bad to lead the escaped demons :ponder:

On the plus side I loved the way John appeared to rescue Dean, and the ensuing wordless exchange between the three of them which was beautifully done. I'm assuming that this is the last we will see of their father but you never know.

Also surprised that it didn't end on a cliffhanger, but that's no bad thing - cliffhangers are overdone these days anyway :)

For a long time this year Heroes was my top genre show but, I have to say, whilst that show has floundered since the break Supernatural has gone from strength to strength

I'm such a wimp, I cried practically all the way through this episode

I'm glad that Sam knows what Dean did for him, I was worried that he wouldn't find out till sometime next season, but this way everything is out in the open and like Dean says, they have work to do

I'm sure I have lots more to say about this episode but i think I need to watch it again first.

BTW, the guy that plays Bobby Singer is Jim Beaver who also played Ellsworth in Deadwood ;)

Jim Beaver

A name which perfectly matches his acting ability

Reminds me, must get around to Deadwood S2 at some point :whistling:

I have to say I was fairly disappointed with the first half of this season. It's not been bad by any stretch of the imagination, it just wasn't as good as last season IMO.

The second half though, fantastic, some really great episodes!

The finale, pretty much what Steve said. Great in many ways, Dean's sacrifice, the hell's gate sequence, the return of John etc, but disappointing in others, the somewhat swift resolution to the Ol' Yellow Eyes arc, and the fact that we look like we might have seen the last of Winchester Senior. I've managed to avoid all spoilers around Supernatural's end of season but I was really expecting John to return, and wasn't surprised when I saw his name in the opening credits (really, they shouldn't have put it in there), and I honestly thought his return would herald a permanent run on the show. Although the scene was wordless, and beautifully played, I was gutted that it was so brief and seemingly final.

Things look good for next season with the show having a clear direction, and I guess they were quite coy in certain ways, wrapping up certain things as they didn't know whether a third season was a go, but I'm hoping the war kicks into full swing now.

200+ demons on the loose, Dean on a time limit, and Sammy may not be completely Sammy? Bring on the new season

Fantastic final, it was good to see why the demon had wanted the colt pistol so much and I did fully expect for them to shoot him when I saw it  I think next season will be a new big bad a la Buffy.

Well the demon army's unleashed, it just needs someone to lead it now. It'll be interesting to see what the impact of the finale has on Sam's ongoing 'dark' storyline. In many ways it seems to have come to a head with the last two episodes but I suspect there'll be aftermath as well which could play out over the course of the third season.

The whole Colt/gun/devil's trap/gateway to hell bit was fantastic!

Yeah, it was brilliantly staged

My vote's for Sam to turn evil and lead the demon army - he'll be tricked into it in order to save Dean from his death sentence :ponder:

I just really hope they don't duck out of the whole "war" scenario, because if they do it right it could be fantastic :)

I had the same thought about Sam leading the Demon army. Wouldn't surprise me.

I remeber reading an interview with the people behind the series. From what they were saying, Season three should be all out war. Doesn't sound like they'll be ducking it!
