Title: DS9 slimline boxsets

John Brawn - April 24, 2007 10:03 PM (GMT)
Is anybody else going to buy the slimline DS9 boxsets? I am going to wait a while until they become a little cheaper just like with the TNG boxsets.

I watched a few episodes of DS9 when it was on BBC2 but I always found it rather heavy going and it had something of a pessimistic streak to it which was not as appealing as the earlier incarnations. Luckily I caught Little Green Men and Trials and Tribbulations(?) which I absolutely loved. sk

Think I'll be doing the same. You can pick up the TNG slimline sets for about £15 now.

DS9 was fantastic. Probably my favourite incarnation of the franchise due to both the original and TNG being played to death on the Beeb and Sky over the years. Although it had an intimidating arc to it, there are some outstanding one-offs. Look out for The Visitor as well, that's a good one, and for me, Far Beyond the Stars is one of the best hours of Trek anytime, anywhere. It's the kind of stuff that TOS used to do really, really well.

My rewatch stalled towards the end of season 5, which was pretty much exactly where I gave up on it the first time around. I must get back to it :ponder:

Now only if they hastened the released of TOS series in these slimline sets, I know its gonna happen at some point so its putting me off buying them at the current £30 (thats in the sale!) price.
