Michelle Forbes (Ensign Ro Laren) will be stepping into the shoes of Miranda Zero, the head of a intelligence agency, for reality king Mark Burnett's first foray into scripted dramatic television, Global Frequency.

Ain't It Cool News and Kryptonsite are reporting that Forbes has taken the role of the former NSA agent who now runs her own secret intelligence agency that protects the modern world from those who would threaten it. Forbes is best known for her turn on Star Trek: The Next Generation as the headstrong Bajoran, Ro Laren, and her stint on the NBC drama Homicide: Life on the Street.

Global Frequency is based on the graphic novel series of the same name by Warren Ellis. Forbes's character heads up a team that includes a suspended police officer named Sean Ronin, a shy scientific genius named Kate Finch, and a smart, spirited dispatcher named Aleph. The roles of Ronin and Finch have yet to be cast, but Aimee Garcia was recently cast in the role of Aleph.

The WB has ordered the pilot for debut in mid-season 2005. In addition to Burnett, who created the popular reality shows Survivor and The Apprentice, John Rogers (The Core) and Nelson McCormick are set to produce.
