Introducing new traveller Martha Jones to the picture as she meets a mysterious John Smith. And before she knows it, the hospital she was working in is on the moon and it's under siege from the the Judoon...

It`s back ! It`s back !

Some nice moments, looking forward to the series getting started `properly` next week. :)

I thought this was a nice start to a new series. It was interesting seeing that Martha seemed to take in her stride the events unfolding. I am curious to see if she becomes a likeable character to me as Billy Piper did over time. But so far she has won me over as Billie's replacement.

And David Tennant is a debonaire as ever!

I liked it.
Don't really have much of an opinion on Martha yet, will wait a couple more episodes to see if I end up liking her as much as I did Rose.
DT was as great as ever, loved the ruffled hair  and the mourning of the sonic screwdriver .
Did have the thought "it's The Stig gone bad" going through my head at the robot things which I can't remember.
Martha's family could get pretty annoying if they feature heavily <_<

buffy_fan1 - April 1, 2007 09:35 PM (GMT)
All in all I think it was a good start in the new season :) Martha has shown herself to be clever, brave and

DT was great where he was trying to convince the Demon he was a human saying he was a postman and talking about Space-Rhinos

Bring back Primeval :snooty:

I don't particularly like these "running about" eps, why develop the plot when you can have another chase scene.

And why oh why do we have to have another Assistants Family Entourage? :(

Hovis - April 2, 2007 08:41 AM (GMT)
Really enjoyed it. My first impressions of Martha were positive, and apart from when Rose was mentioned, I barely thought of her.

Loved the nod to Freema's previous appearance and her character's demise... obviously strong genes making the cousins appear like twins!

A nod too to the Third Doctor's sometime alias, John Smith.

All in all, very enjoyable. I wasn't sure about the Space Rhino's at first, thinking them a bit silly. But this is a family show after all, and I realised I was being a bit picky there.

Have to agree with Joe about the  ness of Martha!

Andrew :yahoo:

Paul look at this way they can't be any more annoying then Rose's family

I take your point about the running about but this seems to how he recruit new assistances they get swept along they don't have time to sit down and go on and on about how there is no such thing as aliens etc. He leaves them wanting more so they have to come along for ride.

Bring back Primeval - Steve you can't be serious! :lmao: it's a truly awful progamme

If that were true (which it obviously isn't  ) you can imagine where that puts this episode of Doctor Who in my estimation :p

I'm in total agreement with Paul, this episode was weak, predictable and a little dull.

a very good start to the third season of Dr Who it's already much better than the majority of last season. So far I'm quite impressed with Martha Jones and she seems like she's going to be a very good companion. Although Russell T Davies does look like he's going to fall in the same trap by bringing in her family which was always a negative in the case of the Tyler's.

While the rhino looking alien looked very good my problem is that it looked like a rhino. I much prefer my aliens to look alien even if they have been influenced by earth creatures. I also didn't like that they cheaped out and only had one rhino head... The rest of them being masked is just one of those things that bug me.

When the hospital was on the moon why was there still power? The alien rhinos didn't bother with life support so surely they wouldn't bother with powering the hospital .

While I enjoyed this episode I agree with Steve and I would much prefer to see more Primeval especially when the inevitable episodes involving her family come along. Why on earth we keep going back to the present is beyond me (excluding the obvious budgetary reasons)? when Dr Who should be going into Earth's future or creating new/old alien landscapes that are truly worth exploring.

Darris - April 2, 2007 06:32 PM (GMT)
Perhaps Steve would have liked the episode more if Martha was running around in her knickers? :p

I agree it would be good if they did episodes set in the past or the future. I really liked the episode The Girl In The Fireplace, I thought it was quite an ingenius episode.
I am wondering if the job of assistant was an easy decision for Martha to take given that her family are that irritating. It's no wonder she signed up, although all we have seen is the Doctor taking her on one journey.

The beginning of the episode was rather hectic via the mobile phone and it seemed as if Martha was relied upon to keep the family together, almost like Tru is in Tru Calling.

I thought it was very good first episode. :)

I like what I've seen of Martha so far she seems both capable and cute and I thought the episode whipped along quite nicely. I seem to be in the minority but I can't say I found Martha's family particulary annoying, :ph43r: not yet anyway and there does seem an awful lot of them. :)

TV Crazy - April 2, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
Thought it was a good introduction to Martha, i think i'm the same as everyone i'll wait and see if i like her as much Rose.

Weird seeing the hospital i work in disappear - St. Thomas' if anyone didn't know.

A good start the the series - DT as entertaining as usual, liked it when his sonic screwdriver broke :lmao:

Good start to the new series. I enjoyed it a lot more than most of the eps from the last series anyway. Maybe it's just that I've got more used to DT in the role now.

I found Martha's family rather annoying too, particularly the dad. Surely they could have got someone who could actually act?

Also, I thought it was the end for the "sonic screwdriver saves the day" storylines, but no, he gets a new one.

You know there's also a doctor who confidential on BBC 3 straight after Dr Who on the Saturday night. :)

prophecy girl - April 7, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
:ermm: lots of running

i didn't think they could bring a more annoying family than rose's but they did :fear: i really hope we won't see them too much :ermm:

love the moon idea

 @ the doctor as a patient, he is lucky it was martha who checked his heart(s) and not the boss. Martha seem ok but i wanna see more to have a definitite opinion

the explanation about martha's cousin who was at canary wharf (you sure it wasn't twin sister  ), the end of the sonic driver (well actually he had a new one by the end of the episode  )

david tennant as good as ever (the doctor has a thing for pyjama  )

the make up team didn't have too much to do for the rhino look, just one, the rest of the "police" hiding behind dark mask but that was good
