Erm, drinking poll. :)

jamiearmour - March 21, 2007 03:55 PM (GMT)
I said 5pm on a normal day. But I have been known to have a glass or two at lunch meetings with "they who must be obeyed" But those drinks were forced upon me :whistling: :innocent:

Outta Sight - March 21, 2007 03:56 PM (GMT)
I've bucked the family trend of 6pm and lowered it to 5pm in my household.....but never before that, not even at the weekends except for on special occasions :)

NB. The one exception to all rules which allows you to drink at any time of the day is children's parties :ph43r:

prophecy girl - March 21, 2007 03:58 PM (GMT)
if it's only one drink, ok for lunchtime

if more, definitly by 6pm

Nick - March 21, 2007 03:59 PM (GMT)
More than happy to have a drink at lunch. Earliest I've started has been when there's a rugby match on in the morning though (8.30 in the morning :o )

Outta Sight - March 21, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
Earliest I ever started was 11.30am. We popped to the student union when a lecture was cancelled for "just the one" and ended up crawling home at 3am the next morning

little pixie - March 21, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
I went for 5pm `cos that`s around dinner time for me. :)

But, except maybe for Sunday lunch, I wouldn`t generally drink until nightcap sort of time. :ponder:

Yes, there are a lot of caveats, aren`t there.

:lmao:

I think my earliest drink was 1030 am at the start of an Edinburgh bar crawl. Erm, it was a hotel bar crawl and did involve an afternoon cream tea.

Afternoon cream tea, that's appalling - did it have some alcomahol in it? :shifty:

Everyone knows the only acceptable foods on a bar crawl are pizza, curry or a kebab :ph43r:

EDIT: Or maybe a burger :ponder:

I'm glad to say I've never fallen off a pedalo, drunk, before though :snooty: How embarrassing would that be? :ph43r:

But my drunken food tastes are acceptable, are they?

Actually I can't stand kebabs but I acknowledge the importance of them in the drunken state

Erm, there was enough alcohol before and after to ensure that alcohol levels were maintained.

So, ricecakes with a slice of cheese and salami aren`t acceptable drunken foods then ? :ph43r:

Sorry Sarah, but rice cakes with cheese and salami aren't acceptable at any time. ;)

I mean could imagine it in a pub, someone offers round some crisps, nuts, even maybe a cigarette; you open up your handbag pull out some rice cakes, some Kraft slices and a pack of Tesco's Finest Salami and start offering it around, asking maybe if they would like a herb garnish or some freshly cracked pepper.....

laughitupfuzzball - March 21, 2007 05:20 PM (GMT)
Lunchtime is a perfectly good time for a drink  although it makes me tired for the afternoon so I normally stick to after 6pm :D

I know you`re being sarcastic, but I`m salivating. :ph43r:

And it`s Emmental or Havarti topped with herby saucisson from the Pyrenees. :snooty:

By the way, I`ve just tried the pinky wine, Nick - - thought it was a bit sour at first , but I persevered and the fruity flavours came through. Good pick. :D

Oh, and I was convinced that I`d already replied to this thread, so if anyone finds my reply in any of the other threads, my apologies. :kate:

I`ve only had 1/2 a small glass. Hic.

I'm on holiday this week so I don't care - before lunchtime is fine :)

Though if you ask me next week when I'm back at work, I'll probably say the same <_<

buffy_fan1 - March 21, 2007 09:51 PM (GMT)
I don't think there such is thing as too early by that I mean I've had drink in morning before e.g. some world cup games in Japan the our in the morning and other times like before my brother's wedding we all a had drink it's fine it just depends on the situation. As long you don't drink too much too often it's not a problem.

 Honestly. You won't get much writing up done with that attitude... :p

I think the earliest I've started drinking is at Reading which was when we woke up. But usually not til the evening. And I'm not really drinking much at all at the moment - sort of cleansing before university...

smellyphagor - March 22, 2007 12:11 AM (GMT)
I only drink during the day about once a year, because I'm rubbish at it. I just want to have an arguement and fall asleep. I'm rat arsed now though. Hello!

Michelle - March 22, 2007 03:09 PM (GMT)
I've voted for 5pm purely because there was a time when I used to go to the pub after work virtually every day.

If it's a Friday and lunch happens to take place at a pub, then sometimes I'll drink and sometimes I won't, depending on how sleepy I want to be in the afternoon. ;)

Also, I ditto Ria on the earliest I've drank being at Reading last year, when I sometimes had a can of beer with breakfast around 9-10am. ;)

I don't tend to drink much in the week now though (nor at the weekend), and when I do it's mostly after 8pm.

The last watcher - March 22, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)
I tend only to go drinking midweek when I'm on my days off.......or sometimes if I'm on a late the next day....as I have to drive.......I voted for 8pm as I tend to go out later (This is mainly due to me being totally incapable of drinking slowly  ....so if I go out early I end up totally ratted  )

When I used to live near the Airport and could walk home I did occasionally have the odd one or two at lunchtime...... :shifty: :innocent:

Drinking earlier than that seems to be reserved for when I'm in a foreign country....for some reason :whistling:

Outta Sight - March 22, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
Everyone knows holidays don't count  It's practically a law that you have to drink before lunchtime B)

prophecy girl - March 22, 2007 04:43 PM (GMT)
a little aperitif before lunch

The last watcher - March 22, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
Or staying in the same bar for more than 24hours and drinking it dry.......... :whistling:

 Cheap flights to Jersey or Amsterdam in the 80's.......happy times :kate:

prophecy girl - March 22, 2007 08:11 PM (GMT)
:ermm: i think you still can do it on a few airline (swissair :innocent: )

endgame - March 22, 2007 08:54 PM (GMT)
Nothing better than a pub lunch that turns into an all day binge if you ask me, :kate: but only as an occasional treat of course ;)

prophecy girl - March 23, 2007 10:26 AM (GMT)
like an english supporter during a world cup

or during a wedding week end
