SEASON 6 TALK....
Great start to the season. I can’t quite believe what Kavanaugh did and how Vic bought his bluff. This is certainly going to be an explosive season. Second episode aried last night, so should have that tonight.
Crichton Kicks - April 11, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
There was a realistic danger that the Kavanaugh storyline would just retread the same ground covered through season five. Can't see that being the case now though with Kavanaugh's changing the rules. Looks to have added an extra dimension this time around. Can't wait to see how Vic handles things now they're both playing on his playing field, and to see how his search for the truth around Lem's murder goes.
Looks like a potentially explosive season's in the offing on all fronts
willowroolz - April 11, 2007 03:08 PM (GMT)
Walton Goggins. I shall say no more :snooty:
Oh, but I did have to laugh at Billings and Claudette...
Billings: "I think I'm going to go home now."
Claudette: "How will we fill the void?"
prophecy girl - April 11, 2007 03:18 PM (GMT)
one of the best episodes. lots of tension. Vic and the gang are back. Kavanaugh is crazier than ever. twist we see at the end was quite good. you get the feeling that cops who should be "good" do illegal things to accomplish their goals.
This episode shows that season six will be a rollercoaster ride of excitement.
Crichton Kicks - April 11, 2007 11:37 PM (GMT)
Bye bye Kavanaugh....... :hibye:
Psycho Jack - April 12, 2007 11:49 AM (GMT)
Great episode last night. Damn, Forest Whitaker is a great actor. Shame to see him go, but Kavanaugh had lost it.
I loved Billings' reasons for not taking a Thursday off... David Marciano really owns that role. It oddly suits him. So far from his olden days of Ray in Due South though.
Vic going a bit Jack Bauer on us was fantastic too. Loving this season, but then again this is The Shield and I've loved every season.

| Vic going a bit Jack Bauer on us was fantastic too. |
Sorry Moe, I know you love 24, but Jack Bauer can only dream of being like Vic Mackey. Vic would kick him into a bucket and piss all over him, and do it without using an exaggerated stage whisper too
6x02 - fecking brilliant. Had my pulse racing on several occasions, like Vic in the basement with the gang, trying to find out where Rocha was, or when Claudette had Kavanaugh thrown out of the room, or Corinne facing down Kavanaugh in front of the squad
I'm a little shocked that they've ended that storyline so quickly but they did it really well. I am pleased to see the end of Forrest Whittaker, though. I still don't like him.
Erm, has anyone else seen 6x03 yet? Don't read on if you haven't ;)
6x03 - dear God that was one of the most brutal things I've ever seen on tv, when Vic was torturing Guardo with the chain :o
I was convinced that Shane was going to cave in and tell him and Ronnie what had really happened.
LMAO @ Dutch getting psycho-analysed by Billings :lmao:
Hmm, a new member of the Strike Team on the way... :ponder:
Crichton Kicks - April 13, 2007 10:53 PM (GMT)
What's the quality of the 6x03 release Steve? It's taken from French TV and something similar happened with season 5 but the quality wasn't so good, hence I've held off this time around until it airs next week.
I'm not a massive fan of Claudette, but the way she and earlier Dutch started taking Kavanaugh down was fantastic!
willowroolz - April 14, 2007 11:58 AM (GMT)
Picture was same as usual, James. There was a slight crackle on the dialogue but I didn't notice it after the first minute or two, tbh. Not sure I'll continue getting it that way, though, what with the titles being in some pesky foreign language ( ;) ) and all :snooty:
Crichton Kicks - April 14, 2007 12:03 PM (GMT)
Hmm,
I'm inclined to wait for the proper versions I think. Especially as these will probably be the ones I keep. Pointless getting getting the DVDs if they're in fullscreen
Psycho Jack - April 16, 2007 10:01 AM (GMT)
Meah! I'll wait for the propers, me thinks.
 @ "exaggerated stage whisper" ... Do you watch 30 Rock, Steve? Will Arnet (of Arrested Development) popped up last week and him and Alec Baldwin had a great "exaggerated-stage-whisper-fight". But anyway, yes, I think Vic would probably win in straight fisty cuffs fight... He has a great weight advantage!
Re the pace of the arc, yup it sure did go quick. However, I'm sure they have something big up their sleeve for the rest of the season. Also, there is bound to be a massive showdown between Vic and Shane... :o

Yeah, cos that's what every woman with a baby in her arms should do: walk up to the suicidal guy with the gun
Never have understood your dislike of Shane. It's irrational. A bit like preferring Dean to Sam :p
Crichton Kicks - April 16, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
Shane's a twat, simple as that, but his charm is in there being absolutely no ambiguity to the fact. None of this shades of grey with Shane, he's just a muppet.
It's been that long since I rewatched the earlier series now, did Teyvon ever come out of that coma or is he still having Sam Tyler-esque adventures in his head while he's still comatose? What a great idea for a spinoff!

An excellent assessment
What I love about Shane is that he tries so hard to be like Vic and to do what he thinks is best for the team, and yet he f*cks it up every single time. His guilt is flooding out of the screen this season, it's just an amazing performance from Mr G

Funnily enough I mentioned this to someone else the other day, that they've never followed that up. He came out of the coma, didn't he, because I remember them all panicking and going to visit him in hospital to head off whatever statement he might give.
I'm surprised that it hasn't been picked up on, but then maybe that's something they're keeping up their sleeve :ponder:
Crichton Kicks - April 17, 2007 09:18 AM (GMT)
^^ That kind of rings a bell, although my memory's slightly clouded around the issue because didn't they originally bluff Shane by telling him that Teyvon had woken up and was saying that he'd bashed him, in order to get Shane to tell them the truth? I can't remember if that was what we're thinking of, or whether he actually did wake up after that. Might have to rewatch soon and find out! Any excuse!
A shame really, I actually thought Teyvon was a decent addition to the team. It'll be interesting to see who they bring in to replace Lem. Can't see that they'll leave it at just the three of them for long.
Goggins has been outstanding this season already. Have to say though, you get the impression that Shane will eventually get his comeuppance, either for Lem's murder or something else, but eventually, surely, Shane will end up in the shit somehow!
willowroolz - April 17, 2007 09:22 AM (GMT)
Tavon definitely woke up - I remember the scene with Vic talking to him in his hospital bed - and Vic was ready to do something about him, iirc, until it turned out his memory was a bit hazy about events leading up to his accident :ermm:
Damn, really must do a complete rewatch, too
willowroolz - April 17, 2007 09:33 AM (GMT)
| QUOTE |
A late addition to the Strike Team, Tavon is well-liked by Vic who begins grooming him as a possible protégé. Shane and Tavon develop a deep rivalry mainly based on Shane's jealousy and racism. Their feud ends with a bloody fight in Shane's apartment, with Shane's fiancé, Mara, sneaking up behind Tavon and hitting him in the back of the head with an iron. Tavon stumbles away and leaves in his van but in his impaired condition he crashes into a parked car, leaving him in a coma. To protect Shane, Vic and a reluctant Lem convince Tavon (who can't remember what happened) that he nearly killed Mara in a furious rage. The character's fate is unknown, though it is hinted at by Vic that Tavon's injuries were severe enough to have him removed from active duty. Although Tavon was not corrupt, he showed a tendency for brutality and even participated in an illegal wire tap set up by the Strike Team.

Crichton Kicks - April 17, 2007 09:44 AM (GMT)
Yes, I remember that now. Poor old Tavon (I'll finally start spelling his name right!), he was devastated that he'd apparently nearly killed Mara. His short term memory loss also obviously making him forget what an absolute witch Mara is anyway, otherwise he'd have been gutted that he'd failed to bash her head in!
A shame they never bought him back. He was better than Army, and there's a gap on the team now afterall!
prophecy girl - April 17, 2007 02:19 PM (GMT)
Lem kinda pushed the guilt on tavon when he lied about the "injuries" that martha recieved.
depending what the result of tavon's guilt trip (unless he finally recall what really happened) and what the after effect of his hospital trip, i don't think we will see him around the strike team.
Psycho Jack - April 17, 2007 05:46 PM (GMT)
Ah, I remember now. Blimey must also do a re-watch at some point... :ermm:
And yes, I don't think 3 is enough for a Strike Team so we might just get a new addition.
I guess the next issue though is Vic's forced retirement. He has to worm his way out of that somehow!

Dunno. Perhaps Season 6 will be renamed as Mackie PI - obviously though, the PI would stand for Physical Intimidation rather than Private Investigator though......!

It'll be tough next week, 6x06 & 6x07 will be released. From what I've heard, I can't wait to see the latter episode. :ph43r:
I think my resistance may disappear then.
prophecy girl - April 21, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
kavanaugh became the things he hate but at least claudette finally showed him who is in charge  . vic is really on the roll for revenge while Shane look more and more in a bad situation.
really a great second episode for this season, exciting and really well written. if it continue that way, this season will be the best.
Crichton Kicks - April 22, 2007 09:07 PM (GMT)
Watched 6x03 earlier. Either Vic's going to kill Shane if and when he finds out the truth about Lem's murder, or, failing that, Shane's going to end up blowing his own brains out. Poor ol' Cletus is in a very dark place right now.
Anyone else see the pre-season 6 15 minute teaser? Didn't Shane tell Mara what happened with Lem? I don't think that that was a particularly smart idea.
Might have to get hold of 6x04 & 6x05 now afterall. It would appear that my 6x03 copy was the French one anyway and there was practically no difference in quality.
Top, top episode. Loved the whole Billings/Dutch thing that looks like it's kicking off. Billings really is a twat.

oh my :o ................ an other great episode
great to see ronnie having a little more to do
you really can see the stress in shane, you can wonder how much longer he can keep his secret
vic finally get his revenge or so he think, i wonder what will be his reaction when he is going to learn the truth
Crichton Kicks - April 24, 2007 12:08 PM (GMT)
Watched 6x04 & 6x05 last night.
Oh dear, poor ol' Shane....not!
Telling Mara's going to prove to be a huge mistake IMO. Shane's on the verge of cracking up.
Interesting choice for the new strike team member, and it seems that Aceveda's pulling far too many strings again. Wonder if that'll influence Claudette into actually needing Vic to stay ultimately, if only to save the precinct.
The Shield is rarely better than when Vic completely loses it, and the bit at the end of episode four in the hospital was fantastic. Vic was like the incredible hulk throwing all of that stuff around and bashing through walls etc!
This is going to be a fantastic season by the looks of it so far. Surely, surely, Shane's on borrowed time now.
willowroolz - April 24, 2007 12:34 PM (GMT)
James, you might want to change the thread title, seeing as we're posting potential spoilers now :)
So be warned before reading on! ;)

On the verge? Over and on the way down I think
Had to laugh when Danny walked in and saw his arse
I think you could be right about Mara, James, but then again she may push him completely the other way.
The new guy's very interesting, very good. I'm intrigued by the way Vic's reacting to him, he seems to quite like him :ponder:
Not sure what to make of Julian on the Strike Team as yet, but it's an interesting development for the character and it's good that they're giving him something a bit more interesting to do.
 @ Dutch drawing up the profile of the rape suspect and then totally missing the guy when he was under his nose :lmao:
Vic as the Hulk? Surely he's The Thing?
Crichton Kicks - April 24, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
Yes, probably an idea to update the title.
The bit where Danny walked in on Shane in the hospital was hilarious. Bad enough with his arse-end hanging out, but then he turned around and looked like death-on-a-stick! A sorrier image I can't remember seeing!
I think with the new guy, Vic is showing his less aggressive side. Plus, Vic still thinks he's in with a shot of saving his own ass. Should prove interesting when he finds out that that's not strictly true. I think the pressure being exerted by Aceveda on Claudette to get the desired results will ultimately end up saving Vic. She desperately needs arrests and as was even mentioned in either 6x04 or 6x05, Vic definitely gets the numbers and then some.
Julian's certainly an interesting choice. When he started making notes though, I felt like slapping him myself.
A good episode for Billings as well, finally showing that he actually does have very good observational and perception skills. As soon as the fat bloke offered help to Dutch around the missing girls we were shouting at the TV. Good old Dutch!

 :fear:  vic losing it at the hospital
an episode very intense and heartbreaking.
claudette lying to vic about a possible appeal (she gonna feel that one when he is gonna learn the truth) just to have him being nice to the new guy (and also due to avevada :ermm: ). it's kinda hard to watch vic doing what he does best because he think he can still keep his job when we know the truth. vic making personal to help some gang members who want out. shane more and more breaking up.
