(film news really but... )
The X-Files creator Chris Carter will direct the SF thriller film A Philosophical Investigation at Paramount, which he will co-write with his X-Files partner Frank Spotnitz, Variety reported. Based on the novel by Philip Kerr, the film is set in a near future in which genetic testing is mandatory to identify individuals predisposed to violence, the trade paper reported.
The movie's plot centers on a female Scotland Yard inspector who's drawn into a cat-and-mouse game with a sociopathic computer expert who finds himself on the list and decides to kill others on it, the trade paper reported.
Producer Mace Neufeld and former producing partner Robert Rehme optioned A Philosophical Investigation more than a decade ago, when they were based at Paramount; it was only the second book Kerr had published. No casting has been set, the trade paper reported.
