Newcomer Erica Durance has landed the coveted role of Superman's future love, Lois Lane, on The WB's superhero series Smallville, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Canadian actress will play Lois as a college freshman with no interest in journalism who comes to Smallville to investigate the death of her cousin Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack), the trade paper reported.
When Lois meets Clark Kent (Tom Welling), they don't exactly hit it off, and their relationship is loaded with romantic comedy sparks, the trade paper reported. Durance will make her first appearance on the show's fourth-season premiere. Smallville will also introduce her dad, Gen. Sam Lane.
Durance made a guest appearance on last year's Fox drama Tru Calling, the trade paper reported.
