Title: Worst Advert on TV

Fangy and grrr - December 20, 2006 06:22 PM (GMT)
What's the worst advert on tv ?

The Kerry Katona Iceland ones are pretty terrible :) but the one I really hate is that Nicole Kidman one, I think its for Chanel no. 5 but I have to switch over or press mute whenever it comes on so I'm not exactly sure. When I saw Casino Royale I had to sit through the full length version of it in all its pretentious glory.

jamiearmour - December 20, 2006 07:34 PM (GMT)
I don't know about the worst advert, quite possibly the new ads for the PSP

But, to go a little off topic, the best advert currently is THIS ONE

I found this version, with subtitles to allow you all to sing along

Cardelia - December 20, 2006 07:43 PM (GMT)
The new Corsa advert is cringeworthy (come on - wtf is that all about?)

I hate all the Halifax adverts. I want to torture and kill that black guy who leads the singing for being the single most annoying person in the history of tv. Apart from the frosties kid...

But most of all I hate the new anti-smoking advert with that retarded "chemist" who doesn't realise that cigarettes cause cancer. And the voiceover winds me up as well - benzene is in unleaded petrol ffs, it's not *that* carcinogenic. Grrrrrr...

Anything to put of uneducated smokers cannot be a bad thing..... I do however find it laughable at how they compare 'pure' as in concentrated benzene to the very low concentations in cigarrettes but as I said this is probably aimed at uneducated folks.

Anyway worst advert must be that Chanel one in Casiono Royal, I went to see the film which was very good but first I had to sit through that and other 20 minutes of adverts, I know they get revenue from those but come on the price to see a film at the cinema has gone up £1.50 as well. For the same price as going to see a film at the cinema (£7.50) I can get two DVDs, which I can watch over and over again, in the January Sales.

To pee me off even further I switch on the TV later that evening to be greeted with the same advert! Its putrid crap and if I see it again I will gouge my eyeballs out.

I hate that 'Come on' corsa one, very irritating. In general I don't mind adverts but that one just gets on my nerves.

The Irn Bru one is great, especially since I can go "Hee, that's my home town" at the start and "I work there" near the end .

"He stole my irn bru, and let go of my hand <splat>"

little pixie - December 20, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
Are Irn Bru ads limited to Scotland ?

Found it ! :lmao:

You need to sing along to it, it's great. I've never seen it on TV yet, just online (but then I'm not getting home until late)

Yep, that's the one, on tv at least <_<

I can't believe it's drummed up so much business for them that they keep using the bloke/the songs etc

In the cinema the worst one I've ever seen was the H&M advert, that played before Serenity, that was some sort of take on a Hollywood musical. Went on for about 10 fecking minutes with some bird warbling on and on and on. Dreadful <_<

goth willow fan - December 21, 2006 08:31 AM (GMT)
I have to agree that the Halifax adds are awful.

melian - December 21, 2006 09:09 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the link to the Irn Bru one, I thought it was hilarious, though I may be singing it all day now

Personally, my pet advert hate at the moment is that scary looking Santa dude in the Debenhams or M&S advert :fear:

jamiearmour - December 21, 2006 09:24 AM (GMT)
Oh, the M&S one is really getting annoying now.

I know it's written somewhere in my contract as a gay, that I have to love Shirley Bassey in all her endeavours, but that cover of Pink's "get the party started" is starting to grate just a bit <_<

yeah he's really creepy   (it's Debenhams)

So am I the only one hating all the Ocean Finance and Safe Style window ads. I want to stab the guy that used to be in one of the soaps

Laura - December 21, 2006 10:20 AM (GMT)
We don't get many of the Halifax ads (they're more BoS), the last HBoS one I remember was the cowboy one for BoS which my friend who works for them hated - I think there may have been a in-bank theme.

prophecy girl - December 21, 2006 10:21 AM (GMT)

The Argos and Virgin ones are just their normal slogans with a Christmas theme  , loads of chains do that.

Outta Sight - December 21, 2006 10:34 AM (GMT)
Tee hee, I don't have to sit through any ads nowadays  Although, previously, I couldn't watch those ads for the RSPCA etc with the abandoned animals, I'd start welling up every time

Another vote for the Halifax ones here.......

Although at the mo its definitly the Vauxhall C'mon ones and that one for Lynx with the guy literally spraying sweat from his armpits........ :ermm:

Loved the Irn-bru one Jamie.......

jamiearmour - December 22, 2006 02:40 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Irn Bru always do good adverts.

I mean, can you believe they got into trouble with the advertising standards watchdog over THIS one?

A lot of the irn bru ads get some complaints, but it just adds to their impact. Wasn't there one about the size of the irn bru can/bottle that got them in trouble a few years back :ponder:
Quite fancy an irn bru now.

jamiearmour - December 22, 2006 09:59 PM (GMT)
It would have to be a diet Irn Bru for me, too much sugar in the real deal.

Then that wold bring up the thought of "Raoul" and that puts me right off the idea :fear: :fear: :fear:
