Title: New Buffy, and Serenity books!!!!
jamiearmour - December 1, 2006 10:05 PM (GMT)
That got your attention didn't it?
Well, it's all true
Joss seems to have put Wonder Woman on something of a back burner at the moment. His tenure on Astonishing X Men ends in 3 months time, but since when has this guy ever slowed down for anything?
In February, he'll be taking over the reins of the Marvel mutant title Runaways about a group of well, superpowered runaways. Trying to escape their super powered (and evil) parents, who want the kids to join in the family business. Joss Whedon+Super powered teenage angst= great stuff.
In March, he launches the new Buffy comic book series at Dark Horse, touted as "the official Eighth season."
Then sometime around "Fall 2007" He'll be debuting Serenity: Better Days with co-writer Brett Matthews and artist Will Conrad. Not much is known about plot details (he's probably still writing it as I write this  ) but it will be set post Firefly TV show but pre Serenity Movie. Just like his first Serenity comic book series.
Then, just to put the icing on the cake of Joss Whedon comic book goodness, he'll end the year with his final piece of X-Men work, with the publishing of [Giant size Astonishing X Men issue 1.
Hmmm, I think we'll be waiting a little bit longer for Wonder Woman

Serenity Better Days news.
Due late 2007, this is a three issue mini series which reunites Joss with his co-writer for the previous Serenity book, Brett Matthews, in a story where the Serentiy casts Universe is turned upside down, by, of all things, a heist that goes right from start to finish. And they find themselves somewhere they've never been before. Easy Street. :o

I haven't read a comic since I was in school but I am tempted to buy the new Buffy ones. I have just checked Forbidden Planets website and you can order them from them there. Issue one and two are up there for preorder.

I can't wait for the new Buffy comics :yahoo: I can only hope my good friend and all around nice guy Jamie will get them for me! Do you think I droped a large enough hint?
An interesting choice of the of words calling it the official Eighth season so does this mean Joss wasn't happy with Nancy Holder's Queen of the Slayers? :ponder: I thought see as Q of S was set post Sunnydale Joss might have read it before it was released or at set rules as to what could happen to his characters? :ponder:

I wasn't very impressed with Queen of Slayers, it seemed to build up, keeping you on tenderhooks and then bomb right at the end, I felt like I had wasted hours reading a book only to be given a crappy ending.

I know exacly you feel I was really enjoying the book then ending was so rushed over all it just seemed come a dead stop very poor and it spoilt it for me too.

I think what it means by "official" is that Joss is, himself, involved in the creative process of this series. Whereas he had no creative/editorial control over the Queen of the Slayers books.
In the new series, he has mapped out the overall arc, and will be personally writing the opening and final few issues(episodes) of the series.

Just to remind you all the first Buffy comic is out on the 15th of March.
