This year girl:
:yahoo: faith Is back, at her top form (especially for someone who has been 8 months in the coma  ), some great acting from Eliza, not much too say (apart when she “talk” to Buffy), just trying to show her feeling, while discovering everything that happened. The highlight being faith silent reaction while watching the mayor’s taped speech (really missing the mayor mostly due to season four big bad: Adam which apart for a short reminder with the hanging dead demon :fear: is MIA … good thing) … a big smile when he talked about the Richard Wilkins memorial museum).
The end with Buffy smiling (one of the scariest smile ever … not as scary as the gentleman but not far) …. Wow. :fear:
A fantastic first part (more like a long set up for the second part): faith return, spike “could someone remember that I hate the lot of you” when he inform giles and xander that he will find faith but only to help her to go after them, the arrival of the watchers special team(with a helicopter), buffy trouble to have to explain everything to riley (the far away cousin) and being able to read riley (the innocent look before he start an argue), the return of joyce (even if it’s to play hostage lady … what was she thinking when she called the cops, I mean she know faith is a slayer and only buffy and co should be able to handle her), buffy/faith fights (funny when 2 seasons later, buffy will be a lot more careful about the house furnitures than in that episode).
Just a few wonder, who did the nurse call using the internal phone, who called buffy (and how did the person know she was at giles), how did faith know that buffy was at giles?? :ponder:

 for Claire's post.
After the relative slowness of 'Goodbye Iowa', BtVS ups the ante with this one. The best is yet to come in the next episode, but this is such a superb set up.
Great to see Faith of course, and love the dream sequence at the start, with the Dawn reference. Boy, Slayers have some odd dreams. Too much cheese close to bedtime, no doubt!
Great stuff, pretty grim in parts. I loved seeing Joyce back... always had a soft spot for her!
A great Xanderism here too, on Faith and Adam... "I'd hate to see the pursuit of a homicidal lunatic get in the way of pursuing a homicidal lunatic."
And I love the Willow and Tara exchange on Faith:
| QUOTE |
Willow: "She's like this cleavagey slutbomb walking around going 'Ooh. Check me out, I'm wicked cool. I'm five by five." Tara: "Five what by by five what?" Willow: "See, that's the thing, no one knows." |
That's Faith summed up. And gotta love 'cleavagey slutbomb', another Buffyism we've all used or wanted to at sometime!
The Faith-Buffy 'five by five' right at the end is chilling too.

After the tedium of Goodbye Iowa Doug delivers something a bit special even if it is in the end merely an entree to Who Are You?
I love how This Years Girl switches brilliantly between being mystical and camp so effortlessly. The opening dream scene with Buffy and Faith is utterly bewitching yet Doug manages to move, without jarring, to Xander struggling with the blaster plus nicely goofy dialogue.
Faith is so right that I almost wish she had teamed up with Adam for the rest of S4 but Faith had had her time in S3 so this wonderful taster is sufficient especially with the Angel arc.
Again like Goodbye Iowa there is not much humour, Xander notwithstanding, but I suppose they are trying to milk the drama for all it is worth. Trying something different has to be applauded. I feel humour is needed a bit otherwise you just sit there saying this is ridiculous. Remember Joss on The Master?
All topped off with a wonderful bit of house destruction. 7/10. sk

I great episode full credit to Eliza just fantasic! In her dreams Faith was obviously scared of Buffy I don't remember Faith being scared her in the past? I love scene were Buffy is chasing Faith though the grave yard they fall in the gave for Faith to emerge the victor arms raised screaming in the rain.
I think Buffy was informed because the Council have a more the a healthy dislike for Buffy but at the same time they know she is only capable of catching Faith. There is a chance that Buffy asked the hospital to tell her if Faith's stiuation changed she had no family Buffy felt resonsible for her. I think dispited all that happened between she cared about her. Buffy was the one to consider that fact Faith might need help.
As Claire said Faith watching the Mayor's tape was just great I miss him he was my favourite big bad. When Joyce asked "Buffy" if she's ok and she replys Five By Five
:fear:

faith went straigh to giles (not visiting and punching joyce first, :ermm: would have been a bad thing, i suppose) so was it because giles being buffy's watcher, there was more chance to catch her there or it was just in case giles was alone, faith would have been able to interrogate him about what was going on? :ponder: (a little torture scene maybe, but then giles had survived angelus ........... so faith  )
