I watch 'em live on US (well Canadian) TV :)
And it was well worth the wait :)

I know a few of us here have already watched 3x01, myself included. It was fantastic!
I cannot wait for next weeks episode

Just finished watching S3 ep1 and all I can say is WOW!!! Well worth the summer break. Roll on the next episode cos If they are anything like this one the S3 is going to be bloody awesome!!!
Crichton Kicks - October 8, 2006 09:35 PM (GMT)
It was a similar(ish) opening scene to last season's. The rest of the premiere last year though was fairly weak after that opening scene, not so this time around. You actually get the impression that we're on the brink of a few key answers to what's going on. I'm sure that will lead to even more questions but still, progress is progress

It will be whenever season three of desperate housewives finishes to be shown on C4. Then they'll put lost on, so probably late 2007. maybe/maybe not (depend if they think that they only have one spot available for two shows  )

They didn't do that last year though, did they? From what I remember Season 1 of Lost followed on from Season 1 of DH, but Season 2 of Lost was started long before DH finishes (in fact, S2 of Lost begun before S2 of DH finished in the US! :))

It started last week, cunningly with the episode number 3.01 ;)
I'd assume Lost will return to C4 sometime in 2007. This thread is referring to the US airdates.

Channel 4 will replace Lost with the hit US comedy Ugly Betty (according the BBC)
grrrarrrgh - October 21, 2006 07:44 AM (GMT)
Ugly Betty is quite good, if my American friends are anything to go by. Can't believe another great show has been lost to the world dominating Sky tho, is nothing sacred anymore? As somebody who does not have the financial resources to have Sky or Sky Plus I'm getting a bit pissed off with it all. Its great being able to see the shows at US pace but as I dont have a DVD writer then I'm squinting at a tiny PC screen to watch em (yes yes, I'm bitching again - sorry :) )

Lost ratings fall with Sky debut Ratings for the first episode of the new series of Lost fell by more than one million, after the cult US drama series moved from Channel 4 to Sky One. The double bill, beginning at 10pm, drew 1.4m viewers, but audience figures fell to 1.2m after the first hour.
When Lost premiered on Channel 4 in 2005, it attracted six million viewers. The second series double bill debuted in May with 3.9m, dropping to 2.8m.
A spokesperson for Sky said they were "delighted" with the audience figures.
Viewing records
The figures exceeded the launch of other hit US dramas on Sky One including 24, Nip/Tuck and Bones.
In October, trade paper Broadcast reported that the channel had paid £20m for the rights to the show.
But the Emmy award-winning drama failed to outstrip viewing records for the channel, with an episode of Friends in 2000 still leading the way with an audience of 2.8m.
An episode of The Simpsons, written by Ricky Gervais, secured one of the highest ratings for Sky in 2006, with viewing figures of 2.3 million.
Sunday night's first episode of Lost, which follows the aftermath of an air crash on a desert island, made Sky the third most watched channel across all television networks, including terrestrial.
The second episode put Sky behind Channel 4, who topped the ratings with The Return of the King - the final instalment of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Crichton Kicks - November 20, 2006 06:17 PM (GMT)
Comparing the ratings between a terrestrial and non-terrestrial channel is always likely to throw up results in the terrestrial channel's favour, simply because their cachement is that much larger. Looking at those numbers realistically, the Sky figures are better. I'm sure as a % of available audience things work out in Sky's favour.
Another point to make is that it was unlikely to break any existing Sky viewing records as season premiere's rarely do.

MySpace hosts free Lost episodes Two episodes of hit US drama Lost have been made available to stream free of charge on social networking website MySpace by broadcaster Sky One. Only available for viewing from within the UK, the first two episodes from the show's third season can be found on the site until Sunday.
Some Lost fans reacted angrily when Sky purchased the rights to the latest series for a reported $20m (£10.3m).
The move away from Channel 4 has seen ratings drop by more than one million.
Sky, however, was said to be "delighted" with the response.
Visitors to the Lost page on MySpace can also view season updates, cast interviews and other features.
Made for US network ABC, Lost has been a critical and commercial success on both sides of the Atlantic.
Set on a remote desert island, the show looks at how the survivors of a plane crash deal with their hostile and mysterious new surroundings.

Lost will move to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays when it returns in February. That will take it out of the line of fire from Fox's megahit American Idol, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Taking Lost's old 9 p.m. timeslot will be two new sitcoms: The Knights of Prosperity at 9, followed by In Case of Emergency at 9:30

Andrews: Lost Mulls January Start
Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid on ABC's hit series Lost, told SCI FI Wire that he believes the network may be mulling a later start for the upcoming fourth season, which would begin in January and run straight without a break, a la Fox's 24. "I believe that's the plan," Andrews said in an interview. This year, Lost premiered in the fall, ran for six weeks, then took a 13-week hiatus before returning in March with original episodes. The audience for the once-white-hot series cooled considerably, though it remains a top-10 show. The show also moved to a later timeslot, Wednesdays at 10 p.m., which may have been a factor in the audience drop.
"I think they should make it sort of like what it was before," Andrews opined. "I liked it when it started a little bit earlier, because a lot of the audience are kids, aren't they? I thought, hmm."
ABC recently announced that it was renewing Lost, but made no mention of start dates or timeslotes.
Andrews added about the show's direction: "I loved the first season. Now I'm really proud of it, and I put it up there with the work that I'm most proud of, and we'll always have it. They can't ever take it away. It'll always be there. And, you know, I'm not a writer. It's their choice to do what they want to with that show, and they will."
Lost remains in production, with four or five episodes yet to film, including the season finale, Andrews said. |

As for those of you hoping that Lost will show up on Sky Three on Freeview, don't hold your breath. Sky currently has plans to yank their programming from Freeview and launch with their own set-top, one-off payment box. (They seem to be labouring under the misapprehension that people are prepared to pay for their services.)
This is subject to review by Oftel who are currently investigating monopolies on digital and satellite transmissions, but, if it goes ahead, expect to lose Sky Three, Sky News and Sky Sports News off the Freeview platform sometime in the summer.
(With that in mind, I've started downloading Lost S3 off the net and it's as frustrating/ mesmerising as ever.)

Lost To End In 2010
ABC has agreed to let the producers of Lost set an expiration date for the series: three years in the future, Variety reported.
The series will wrap after the production of 48 additional episodes that will be divided into three, shortened 16-episode seasons. The final episode, the show's 119th, will air during the 2009-'10 season, the trade paper reported.
Executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse had wanted Lost to end after two more seasons, but agreed to the three shortened seasons as a condition of signing new multiyear deals with the ABC Television Studio, which produces the series. They're essentially still getting their wish: The 48 episodes they'll produce over the next three years is the same number the show produced during its first two seasons, Variety reported. ABC plans to air the shorter, 16-episode arcs without repeats; it's unclear when the series would return next season.
Cuse and Lindelof wanted an end date in order to mollify critics of the show who worried producers were simply spinning their wheels as they worked through the show's layer upon layer of mystery.
Lost's end game is expected to kick into high gear later this month with the broadcast of the third-season finale, which is expected to change the show dramatically. |

prophecy girl - May 25, 2007 09:22 AM (GMT)
The third-season finale of ABC's Lost saw its ratings down from a year ago, but it came in a strong second in its Wednesday-night time period, Variety reported.
According to preliminary nationals from Nielsen, the two-hour Lost finale averaged a 5.8 rating among adults aged 18-49 and 13.7 million viewers overall, peaking with a 6.6 rating in the demographic and 15.5 million viewers overall in its final half-hour. This was the show's best performance since Feb. 7, when it premiered in a new Wednesday 10 p.m. timeslot, although its total program average was down more than 20 percent vs. last year, the trade paper reported.
Lost returns in January with a fourth season.

Not going to happen - there are 16 episodes and they've confirmed the season will run uninterrupted. If they start in January then it will end in April, and they will lose out on the May sweeps. Thus starting in February means they have the première for the February sweeps, and the finale for the May sweeps :)

I saw the finale a couple of days ago - I was going to give up on Lost after this season, but now I`m intrigued with how it ended and wonder if I should stick with it - if they`re only doing 16 eps per season, perhaps the standards will be higher.
It took me ages to realise that the woman playing Bonnie in the Looking Glass underwater bit was also in S2 of Alias playing Elsa Caplan, the double agent who was married to Christian Slater. :)
