Title: New Poll

Don't really care tbh just curious how easy it was (or wasn't) to post polls
Crichton Kicks - September 28, 2006 01:03 PM (GMT)
I can only assume that the vote for "Quality Entertainment" was sarcasm......
little pixie - September 28, 2006 01:09 PM (GMT)
:lmao:
It`s obviously quality entertainment. :snooty:
Look at the stellar careers all the actors have gone on to have. :whistling:

With the exception of Bob Picardo and Jeri Ryan I'm struggling to think of any of them that have gone on to blaze a trail across Hollywood.
Picardo was a decent actor who got plenty of television gigs before Voyager. Ryan, makes mostly guest appearances, but she's got a regular role this year, on something who's name escapes me right now. And I'm sure the catsuit didn't do her career any harm!

Shark - the James Wood series. :)

Looking at
IMDB, a couple of them seem to be doing well directing TV....
Roxann
Bumpy Forehead Dawson did
Lost, and Robert Duncan McNeil did
Desperate Housewives... :ponder:

Star Trek's always been a breeding ground for directorial talents, going back to TNG where Pat Stewart, Jon Frakes, Michael Dorn, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton and Gates McFadden all got behind the camera at some point. In fact, out of the principle seven, Marina Sirtis was the only one that didn't. Since then the tradition continued through DS9, Voyager, and (I think) Enterprise.

There were some good episodes. There was one called Resolutions where Janeway and Chakotay get stranded on some planet all alone ( :naughty: ) and , erm, make friends with a monkey and grow tomato plants.

A candidate for one of the worst episodes of all time surely! Right up there (or down there!) with that one with the adventures of Treeflotter or whatever his name was!

Voyager was good from time to time and i did watch it from start to finish, i think, but i look back at old eps and i ask myself why i ever watched them. My fave eps were Fairhaven and Spirit Folk and some others from the later seasons, i watch some of the earlier ones and ask myself why. However Voyager entertained me for 7 years, so i voted for quality entertainment, cos back then i think it was.
Ems :)

Personally Voyager fell downhill once they bought Seven of Boobs in, and decided the series would be the Seven and Doctor show (with Captain Janeway and Lt Torres).
Crichton Kicks - September 30, 2006 10:11 PM (GMT)
I've often said that it's debatable that Voyager's first season is the best first season of any of the modern Treks. That being said, after the first year everything went south, and as Phillip says, as soon as they introduced 'the catsuit' it was all over.
jamiearmour - October 1, 2006 07:18 AM (GMT)
I opted for "Utter Shite".
I can think of only a handful of watchable eps, and most of them feature Robert Picardo at his bitchy best
The main reason they got the vote though????
The show could have been great. It had a wonderful premise, a reasonably talented cast, anc so many wonderful ways that both could have been used.
But....
They just decided to attempt a clone of TNG and it just didn't w**k.
They tried, (bless 'em) and Scorpion part 1 could have been a turning point for the show. That one ep was all that I could hope for in a Trek show, (scary borg (lots of) an even scarier bad guy wiping out the Borg, and good acting turns from most of the main cast. Then they went and spoiled it with part 2 of the story
they turned the borg from the most impressive/terrifying villains in Trekdom, into a bunch of snivelling little "villain of the week" monsters that could be taken out quite easily by a single Starship who's captain had perma-PMS (OK, so theoretically there's no force in the Galaxy that could take that force on and win  )
The show is categorised by missed opportunities. They looked at the wonderful things they were trying out on DS9 and thought to themselves..."Nah, that'll never w**k, let's just put a pile of shite out" and that is (unfortunately) what they did on a weekly basis.
I thought Trek couldn't sink any lower, Then came Enterprise.... But that's a subject for another poll

That and the fact that they completely neglected half of the cast in later seasons. You can pretty much count the decent Chakotay episodes on one hand. Likewise Tuvok, Harry etc. You're right though, even with the characters they missed opportunity after opportunity. Think of the O'Brien/Bashir dynamic on DS9 and how well that worked for adding an extra dimension to each character. In the early days they tried something similar with Paris/Kim, which to be fair, did w**k to a slightly less degree. But, what to they do then? Jack it in in an attempt to contrive Paris/BLT hopping into bed. FFS! Luckily I'd stopped caring by that point anyway....
