| Major General Jack O'Neill attempts to help the Atlantis team fend off a threat from the Asurans, a possible precursor of the human-form Replicators. |

I go away for a week, and everyone stops posting stargate. Seemed appropriate to start with Atlantis this week, seeing as I've just been to the lost city (of Petra, not the pegasus galaxy).
Anyway, I thought this was a good episode. It was obviously a big set up for part two, but it was done well. Nice to see some genuine ancients turn up, and I am really hoping that they don't all get killed off in part 2. I wouldn't be at all surprised if atlantis gets to keep the ZPM they have left though, seeing as they lost one a couple of weeks ago (seem to do this a lot on Atlantis...get a new ship one week, lose it the next). I'm hoping that they will flesh out the Asurans a bit in the next episode, as they are too similar to the replicators at the moment.
The Dr Lee/Weir warcraft scene was pretty funny, and it seemed like a good use of RDA (for once). The galactic gate network was a good idea, although I'm surprised they didn't come up with it earlier.
Can't believe that were on a season break again. These last ten episodes seem to have gone by very fast.

Now this one was all too seen it all before for me :ermm: I was very annoyed that they didn't spend more time with the Ancients - Ancients for goodness sake and I completely didn't buy that they would just ship out like that.
The set up for the next episode however looks promising, could be cracking.

I thought this one was quite original. I thought the Ancients kicking them out of the city was quite a surprise, but what could they do? They are squatting there after all.
I think the episode might have seemed a bit rushed, and didn't really suggest the timespan involved. Didn't it say Shepard running a team from the SGC for 6 weeks?

I was actually surprised that the Ancients were actually Ancients. Spent most of the episode waiting for it to be revealed that they were actually Asurans/Replicators.
It was an alright episode. Could have been better, could have been worse, and I'd rather it peaked in the concluding part, rather than having a cracking first part and then be let down by it's conclusion. Plus it makes it easier during the break!
I preferred SG1's mid-season finale this time around I think.

Snap, I think because the SGA's reactions to them were very underwhelming and it would have been a perfect way for the Asurans to infiltrate Atlantis.
When I said it was a little too familiar I was referring to the Stargate Atlantis team going against orders to team up and save the day - exactly the same as the Stargate team in the Serpents Lair episodes.

I don't have a problem with them borrowing plot, but they should be in with a realistic chance of bettering the original use of the plot. Given that they borrowed from the 'Serpent's Lair' episodes, that was hardly likely to happen.
Still, things did look to have been nicely set up for the concluding part.
