Whoops, just stuck a review of Atlantis on the SG1 board. Thank god for Edit.
Anyway, this was OK. Not as good as the Atlantis season ending if you ask me. It seemed like it had been done before. Another episode with Baal in, which is always a bad thing for me these days. I'm sick of go'a'uld.
The reveal of Adria was done well though, although I can't help but feel that SG1 should have killed both Adria and Baal on sight (OK, so Adria has a personal shield. You could still push her off the Sangral platform). I liked seeing the Ori invasion first hand too. Made them seem more menacing somehow.
The puzzles seemed a little obvious, and a bit derivative of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, with the whole only the penintent man shall pass bit (did I mention I went to the lost city of petra last week? Couldn't find the grail though). The firewall seemed to be particularly obvious.
The cliffhangar wasn't great. The dragon looked a bit odd, and they had already established that you could defeat it by knowing its name, which Baal claims to know. No doubt he doesn't, but I expect Daniel will w**k it out before the opening credits.
Really - I felt this one was the strongest. I can understand where you are coming from with the ease of the puzzles etc but I liked the banter between the group particularly when Adria and Baal joined in. I can't wait for the conclusion
Agree with Alex on this one, definitely stronger than The Return in my book.
Whilst tired of the Goa'uld I actually like the Baal character, he's probably the best Goa'uld since the original Apothis.
I'd have to agree with the ease of some of the puzzles, especially with how quick they were solving them, and the firewall scene was incredibly predictable, but the group dynamic throughout the episode I found particularly enjoyable.
Whilst I'm not exactly sad, these days, to see SG1 ending, it's still a shame, as they seem to have a real sense of direction these days. To be fair SG1's pretty much always had it. Atlantis on the other hand appears not to know where it's going.
I really enjoyed Atlantis last year but this season as you say seems to have absolutely no direction whatsoever, can't believe it's 10 episodes in and there is no focus at all.
As you say the Stargate story arc is unfolding very nicely and I'm really looking forward to the latter half of the season.
