Not quite sure about this one
It's an enjoyable enough episode but seems a bit limited or like a trial version of later episodes in a similar vein
Nice enough to see the way in which the puzzle is solved but couldn't really get past the bit where Troi is unable to help when Riker and scientists wifey both have very different versions of events.
Whilst I appreciate they were suggesting that there was self-deception going on the fact that wifey was clearly wrong should have translated to Troi, if nothing else as a sort of uncertainty in her emotions. FFS Troi seems to be able to sense just about everything else whn the storyline demands it, so to suddenly have her not able to help here was pretty daft - I'm sure they could have just written her out of the story and avoided having to come up with the excuse they did
I've never liked this one. It's slap bang in the middle of a run of great episodes and, by contrast, it's boring and obvious.
TNG does Rashomon - and doesn't do it very well
